Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Disneyland Paris, and several other Disney parks offer special meet-and-greets where guests can meet their favorite characters. At Walt Disney World Resort, there are multiple character meet and greets at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Of course, just as important as the characters themselves is the character attendant.

Disney World character attendants play a crucial role in ensuring guests have a magical experience with their favorite Disney characters. These attendants are responsible for managing the queues, facilitating interactions between characters and guests, and ensuring the safety of both guests and characters.

Throughout the day, character attendants encounter a diverse range of guests, each with their own unique expectations and behaviors. For many children, meeting their favorite Disney characters is a dream come true. Character attendants often encounter enthusiastic kids who can’t contain their excitement. These children may jump, squeal, or hug the characters tightly, and the attendants help to manage these interactions while ensuring everyone stays safe and respectful.

Some guests are so passionate about Disney characters that they may become emotional or overly enthusiastic when meeting them. Character attendants handle these situations with patience and understanding, ensuring that both the guests and characters feel comfortable and respected.

Character attendants frequently interact with families and groups visiting Disney World together. They help coordinate group photos, manage the dynamics between multiple guests interacting with the same character, and ensure that everyone in the group has a memorable experience. These are some of the types of guests Disney characters may see throughout the day.

In a Reddit Thread, Disney World guests talk about how character attendants have to deal with so much during the day. One major issue Cast Members deal with is guests who throw tantrums when not getting their way. During a meet and greet session with Alice near the teacups, a guest encountered a closed line but refused to accept it. Despite being politely redirected, the guest, a woman in her 30s or 40s, threw a tantrum and attempted various tactics to gain entry, including claiming personal tragedies and expressing entitlement. However, Alice and the attendant swiftly departed, leaving the guest’s pleas unanswered.

The incident highlights the importance of grace and composure when interacting with cast members, as tantrums only diminish the chances of accommodation. While guests do want to meet their fan-favorite characters when the line is closing, remember that each character and cast member needs a break from time to time. And if Disney Parks are not closing for the night, most of the time, characters will return shortly after a break.
