Disney World Guests Hit With Major Halloween Party Cuts Weeks Before Event Ends

Disney World's biggest Halloween celebration has suffered a big setback this week.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been running at Magic Kingdom since August 7, bringing exclusive entertainment, costumed characters, and Halloween attractions to Walt Disney World Resort. The separately ticketed event continues through October 31, with all remaining dates already sold out.

Guests attending the five-hour celebration can watch Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks, and the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular. The latter features the Sanderson Sisters alongside Disney villains, including Maleficent, Oogie Boogie, and Dr. Facilier.

The 2026 event also introduced a new Stitch masquerade in Tomorrowland, featuring Lilo and Angel. Meanwhile, attractions including Space Mountain and Mad Tea Party receive special Halloween effects, while guests can collect candy from trick-or-treat stations throughout Magic Kingdom.

However, guests attending the event on Thursday, October 8, encountered a significantly different experience as severe weather forced Disney to cut several major entertainment offerings.

Disney Cancels Multiple Halloween Party Performances at Magic Kingdom

Heavy rain swept through Magic Kingdom on October 8, disrupting Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party just over three weeks before its final scheduled performance.

Disney canceled the first showing of Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, originally scheduled for 8:15 p.m., along with several performances of the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular at Cinderella Castle.

The parade is one of the event's biggest attractions, featuring the Headless Horseman, Haunted Mansion characters, Disney villains, and Mickey Mouse and his friends in Halloween costumes.

Although the second parade eventually proceeded during a break in the rain, it was brought forward from its scheduled time. The Headless Horseman was also absent, removing one of the procession's signature elements.

Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular went ahead at 10 p.m., allowing guests to watch the fireworks and projections around Cinderella Castle despite the earlier cancellations.

Other experiences were reportedly affected. One guest claimed that Stitch did not appear at his designated character greeting location during the party, although the circumstances surrounding his absence remain unclear.

The disruption prompted some families to leave Magic Kingdom early. One attendee explained on Reddit that their group departed after learning the first parade had been canceled and the fireworks might also be affected.

However, Disney did not cancel the Halloween party itself. Magic Kingdom remained open for the event, with some scheduled entertainment proceeding despite the poor weather.

Instead, Walt Disney World issued an apology through the My Disney Experience app, offering affected guests admission to its theme parks on another date.

“Your event ticket has automatically been converted to a 1-day ticket with Park Hopper option to any Walt Disney World® theme park, valid for one year from the date of your original event ticket,” the My Disney Experience app notification read.

The replacement ticket allows guests to visit multiple Walt Disney World theme parks on the same day, subject to applicable admission requirements. Guests must make a theme park reservation to use the ticket.

Guests who attended the party can still use the replacement admission, even if they remained at Magic Kingdom for the original event. Those who did not receive an app notification were advised by fellow attendees to check the My Tickets and Passes section.

More Disney World Halloween Parties Face Uncertain Weather

The October 8 disruptions follow several other weather-affected evenings at Walt Disney World Resort.

Guests attending Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party earlier in October reported changes to the event's entertainment. One visitor claimed that performers in Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade walked along the route instead of performing their usual choreography.

The same guest reported significant alterations to the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, describing an unusually wet six-day vacation that also included further disruptions at Magic Kingdom.

Another attendee who visited on October 6 complained that persistent rain affected the parade and stage shows. Unlike those attending on October 8, some guests from earlier parties reported receiving no replacement admission.

Disney does not automatically cancel Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party when it rains. However, outdoor entertainment can be delayed, modified, or canceled when weather conditions make performances unsafe.

The weather concerns extend beyond Orlando. Hurricane Isaias intensified into a Category 3 storm on October 9, threatening the northern Gulf Coast with damaging winds, dangerous storm surge, and flooding.

The hurricane was approaching the Florida Panhandle on Friday, with authorities ordering evacuations across parts of the Gulf Coast. Orlando remained outside the storm's projected landfall area.

The unusually quiet 2026 Atlantic hurricane season has also coincided with strengthening El Niño conditions, which typically increase wind shear and suppress tropical cyclone development in the Atlantic.

El Niño can additionally contribute to wetter weather across Florida during the winter months, although it does not determine whether rain will affect a particular Halloween party.

Following its October 9 event, the celebration returns on October 13, 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 25, 27, 29, and 31. Every remaining date is sold out, according to Walt Disney World's official website.

Guests can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4 p.m. with a Halloween party ticket, although the exclusive festivities officially run from 7 p.m. until midnight. The event's entertainment remains subject to change without notice.
