Disney Cast Member Endures Frightening Costume Malfunction in Front of Theme Park Guests

Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Parade at Magic Kingdom Park recently hit an unexpected pause when one of the character performers encountered a costume malfunction. A Walt Disney World Resort guest captured the incident on video and praised the cast member for their professionalism.

Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Parade is a highlight of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, performing twice nightly on party nights. The parade features floats inspired by Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean/Peter Pan (1953), Disney Villains, and more. The Headless Horseman opens the parade with a ride through Frontierland, Liberty Square, and down Main Street, U.S.A.

On August 26, Instagram user @gallivant.with.katie shared a video from a recent performance. Initially, spectators thought Ursula, the villain from The Little Mermaid (1989), had paused her dancing intentionally. It soon became clear that the moving platform she stood on had gotten stuck in the trolley tracks on Main Street, U.S.A.

As the social media explained, Ursula stayed in character while the issue unfolded, continuing to entertain Magic Kingdom Park guests. Technicians arrived on the scene, and Ursula used a hand signal to indicate the problem as another Disney cast member worked to resolve it.

“Cast Members are HIGHLY trained for anything and if this isn’t proof, I don’t know what is!” the Instagram user concluded.

Technicians attempted multiple times to free Ursula from the platform while she continued waving and dancing. After “a few minutes,” the Disney cast member stepped away, and Ursula was able to glide down Main Street, U.S.A. Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Parade resumed to the cheers of spectators, and luckily, the performance did not need to be canceled.

The video quickly garnered attention online, with many Disney Parks fans applauding the cast members’ quick thinking and dedication to maintaining the magic.

“I always think it’s so cool to watch the background dancers, in this case flotsam jetsam,” said @schroedermc26. “They notice she’s not moving anymore and know that’s off beat and they know to circle and distract while they fix it it’s cool.”

Others shared empathy for Ursula–we’ve all tripped over the trolley tracks at Magic Kingdom Park!

“Now they understand how moms with strollers fell going over those railroad humps,” @shelibruce wrote.

“My ankles are not fans of the trolley tracks!” @mybestmani added.
