One of Disney World’s most famous nighttime spectaculars is slimming down its schedule. Fantasmic!, the beloved show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, is officially moving to a single nightly performance starting in mid-September .
A Show with Staying Power
Since its debut, Fantasmic! has been the kind of production that pulls thousands into the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater. With its mix of fireworks, fountains, lasers, and Mickey facing off against villains, it’s a quintessential Disney experience. In 2022, Disney used the show’s long hiatus to refresh it with new sequences. Moana and Elsa joined the lineup, while upgraded lighting and water projections gave the spectacle a sharper, more modern look .
That overhaul kept the show relevant and packed theaters this summer. Guests often had the choice between an earlier 8:30 p.m. showing and a second one at 10 p.m.
September Changes Everything
Now, Disney has posted an update that will change how guests experience Fantasmic! this fall. The final 10 p.m. show is listed for September 12. When the production resumes on September 18, it will be shown once per night, at 9:30 p.m.
This means both the earlier 8:30 option and the late-night 10 p.m. slot are disappearing. From September 18 through at least October 26, the schedule confirms just one performance nightly.
What It Means for Visitors
Fans who loved having two opportunities to see the show may be disappointed. Fewer shows inevitably mean more competition for seats, so guests should arrive earlier or explore reserved seating options to secure their spot.
However, there’s also a silver lining. For families with younger children, 10 p.m. was often too late, while 8:30 sometimes cut into evening park plans. A single 9:30 p.m. slot lands somewhere in the middle, offering a balanced solution that may appeal to many.
Could a Second Show Return?
Disney has not confirmed whether this is a permanent shift or simply a seasonal adjustment. Given that the holidays typically draw some of the biggest crowds of the year, fans will want to keep an eye on updates as November and December approach .
For now, the verdict is clear: Fantasmic! is sticking around, but you’ll only get one chance a night to catch it.
