Say Goodbye to the Disney World You Knew—Massive Summer Changes Incoming

There’s always something special about stepping through the gates of a Disney park. But this summer? It’s different. It feels like the moment before the curtain rises on a brand-new act—and if you’re visiting soon, you’re walking right into it.

Disney World is evolving. And in May alone, we’re seeing a sneak peek of that transformation. This isn’t just a small schedule tweak or a new cupcake release—this is a full-on shift in how the resort feels, entertains, and celebrates.

Let’s start with May 4th. Star Wars fans already know what’s up—this is their holiday. And Hollywood Studios is about to become a galactic hotspot. With special snacks, collectibles that sell out within hours, and the atmosphere of a fandom celebration, it’s no wonder reservations are already gone. It’s not just an event—it’s an experience.

Then there’s the early EPCOT closure on May 21. It may sound simple—a private buyout, early exit for regular guests—but when EPCOT closes, ripple effects hit the other parks. More people flooding into Magic Kingdom or Studios means your night could suddenly become a lot busier than expected.

But here’s where it gets fun. On May 27, two all-new shows take the stage at Hollywood Studios: The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure and Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After. These aren’t just filler shows—these are the kind of entertainment offerings that become guest favorites. They fill theaters, they trend online, and they change how people plan their park days.

And for Annual Passholders? You’re in for something too. V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days return on May 14, and they’ll run through July. Disney hasn’t shared all the details, but past perks included free snacks, exclusive meet-and-greets, and secret lounges. Expect more of the same magic this time around.

The timing of all of this isn’t a coincidence. Disney knows the summer season is when families make memories. It’s the heartbeat of the year. So with new entertainment, exclusive events, and big holiday weekends like Memorial Day and Cinco de Mayo drawing major crowds, the vibe at Disney World is about to shift.

It’s exciting. It’s packed. And it’s different.

So if you’re visiting soon—get ready. Disney World is still full of the wonder you love, but this summer, it’s coming with a whole new rhythm.
