A Disney World vacation in November comes with plenty of excitement, especially as the resort begins transforming for the holidays. However, not everything will be operating when guests arrive.
Several familiar experiences are temporarily disappearing from the lineup, and some won't return until well after the holiday season ends.
While refurbishments are a normal part of operating a theme park, they can still create problems for families who have spent months planning their vacations.

Nobody wants to arrive at Magic Kingdom only to discover that a favorite attraction is unavailable.
Fortunately, Disney's November 2026 refurbishment schedule gives visitors an opportunity to prepare.
Here's what will be closed, when the closures begin, and what guests can expect moving forward.
1. Carousel of Progress Will Miss the Entire Holiday Season
Guests hoping to visit Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress during their November vacation are out of luck.
The classic Tomorrowland attraction has been closed since July 6, 2026, and its refurbishment will continue into next year.
This isn't a small maintenance project, either.
Disney is making major changes to the experience, which originally debuted at the 1964 New York World's Fair.

Carousel of Progress has spent decades showing guests how technology has changed American family life. Its rotating theater, familiar characters, and memorable music have made it a favorite among longtime Disney fans.
Now, the attraction is receiving a substantial update.
The redesigned show will explore life during the 1960s, 1980s, and 1999 before taking guests into a possible future filled with technological advancements.
Disney is also adding a Walt Disney Audio-Animatronics figure to the introduction.
That addition should create an interesting connection to the attraction's history, especially considering Walt Disney's involvement with the original experience.
Unfortunately, guests will need to wait several more months to see the changes.
Disney expects Carousel of Progress to reopen in spring 2027.
Until then, one of Tomorrowland's most historic attractions will remain unavailable.
2. Tiana's Bayou Adventure Closes for Several Weeks
Another Magic Kingdom attraction is preparing for a temporary closure, although this one has a confirmed reopening target before Christmas.
Tiana's Bayou Adventure will close November 4, 2026, for refurbishment.
The attraction opened in 2024, replacing Splash Mountain with a new adventure inspired by The Princess and the Frog(2009).

Guests travel through colorful environments featuring Princess Tiana and other characters before experiencing the attraction's signature drop.
Since opening, the ride has become an important part of Magic Kingdom's thrill ride selection.
Its temporary absence could be disappointing for visitors who have never experienced it.
However, Disney has already provided a reopening date.
Tiana's Bayou Adventure is scheduled to return December 18, 2026.
That timing should allow guests visiting during the busiest Christmas vacation period to experience the attraction.
Unfortunately, anyone planning a Thanksgiving trip will miss out.
Guests visiting during the first three days of November may still be able to ride before the refurbishment begins.
After November 4, though, the attraction will remain closed until its scheduled December return.
3. Typhoon Lagoon Remains Unavailable Throughout November
Magic Kingdom isn't the only part of Walt Disney World dealing with closures.
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon will remain closed throughout November as its annual refurbishment continues.
The tropical-themed water park features a massive wave pool, exciting slides, and several family-friendly experiences.

However, Disney periodically closes its water parks to complete seasonal maintenance.
Typhoon Lagoon's current refurbishment means none of its attractions will be available during November.
That could affect guests hoping to include a relaxing water park day in their vacation.
Fortunately, Disney has another option.
Blizzard Beach remains open, offering visitors a completely different water park experience.
Instead of Typhoon Lagoon's tropical setting, Blizzard Beach features a winter-themed environment inspired by a melting ski resort.
Guests can enjoy water slides and other aquatic attractions while Typhoon Lagoon remains unavailable.
The November closure roundup does not include a specific reopening date for Typhoon Lagoon.
Anyone hoping to visit should continue checking Disney's operating calendar for updates.
Could More Disney World Attractions Close in November?
While these three experiences make up the current scheduled closure roundup, that doesn't mean every other Disney World attraction is guaranteed to operate throughout November.
Unexpected closures can happen at any time.
Rides occasionally experience technical difficulties, while weather conditions can temporarily affect outdoor attractions.
Disney could also announce additional refurbishments or change existing schedules.
For that reason, guests should regularly check the My Disney Experience app before and during their vacations.
It's also worth remembering that November is the beginning of one of Disney World's busiest holiday periods.
Having a backup plan can make a big difference when a favorite attraction isn't available.
Fortunately, the resort still offers plenty of experiences across Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom.
Disney World Guests Should Plan Ahead
November 2026 will bring three major scheduled closures across Walt Disney World.
Carousel of Progress will remain unavailable until spring 2027, Tiana's Bayou Adventure will close November 4 before its expected December 18 reopening, and Typhoon Lagoon will remain closed for seasonal maintenance.
Although these refurbishments may disappoint some visitors, they also allow Disney to maintain and update its attractions.
The best approach is to check the refurbishment schedule before arriving and build a flexible itinerary.
That way, guests can spend less time worrying about closed attractions and more time enjoying everything else Walt Disney World has to offer.
