September is shaping up to be a busy month at Walt Disney World, but not everything guests expect to find will be available.
Across the resort, several experiences will either remain closed or temporarily disappear during September 2026. The list reaches beyond attractions, with restaurants, transportation, and resort dining also affected.
Some closures should only require a quick adjustment to vacation plans. Others could have a much bigger impact depending on when guests arrive. In one case, Disney will close the gates to an entire park shortly after the month begins.
Before finalizing those September itineraries, here are seven closures guests should know about.
1. One Tomorrowland Classic Isn't Coming Back Yet
Magic Kingdom visitors will continue to find Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress unavailable throughout September.
The Tomorrowland attraction closed on July 6, 2026, as Disney started a major update. That work will keep the long-term experience unavailable for considerably longer than a typical short refurbishment.
Disney plans to refresh the show while maintaining its familiar spirit. The project will also add a Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic figure to a new pre-show.
Carousel of Progress isn't expected to reopen until sometime in 2027, leaving guests in September without the Magic Kingdom classic.
2. A Familiar Magic Kingdom Stop Remains Off-Limits
Elsewhere in Magic Kingdom, construction continues to affect the Walt Disney World Railroad.
The Frontierland station remains unavailable, and trains aren't currently traveling their traditional full loop around the park.
The disruption comes as Disney transforms the former Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island area into Piston Peak National Park.
The railroad continues operating on a limited basis, so it hasn't disappeared completely. However, guests accustomed to using the train to get around Magic Kingdom should plan for a different experience this September.
3. September 8 Brings an EPCOT Closure
Guests with EPCOT dining plans should pay attention to their travel dates.
Coral Reef Restaurant will close for planned maintenance beginning September 8. Disney expects the restaurant to return later in 2026 but hasn't provided an exact reopening date.
The World Nature restaurant overlooks the massive aquarium in The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion, offering diners a distinctive setting on their EPCOT day.
Guests visiting during the first several days of September may still have a chance to eat there. After September 8, another restaurant will need to take its place.
4. One Resort Cafe Won't Be Available
September's closure list also extends to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Grand Floridian Cafe will remain closed throughout the month as its refurbishment continues.
Disney has temporarily relocated brunch service to Cítricos during the project, providing another choice for guests looking to dine at the resort.
While plenty of other dining options remain around the Grand Floridian and nearby resorts, guests hoping specifically for Grand Floridian Cafe will have to wait.
5. Saratoga Springs Guests Face Another Closure
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will also have one less restaurant available.
The Turf Club Bar and Grill is expected to remain closed into late September while refurbishment work continues.
However, Disney is keeping The Turf Club Lounge available during the project.
Saratoga Springs guests can also easily reach Disney Springs, where numerous additional dining choices are available. Still, the closure removes a convenient restaurant from the resort for much of the month.
6. Hollywood Studios Loses an Indoor Experience
Over at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Vacation Fun is another experience guests may find missing.
The Mickey and Minnie animated short is presented in the Mickey Shorts Theater, offering visitors an indoor option between the park's larger attractions.
Losing it may not require a major overhaul of the itinerary, but the timing could make its absence more noticeable. September can still bring plenty of Florida heat and afternoon storms, making indoor experiences useful during long park days.
Vacation Fun is expected to return in late September, though an exact reopening date remains uncertain.
Then comes the closure that could have a much larger impact.
7. Disney Is Closing an Entire Park
Beginning September 9, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park will close for refurbishment.
That leaves September 8 as the final opportunity for guests to visit before the shutdown begins.
Disney's Blizzard Beach will remain available as Walt Disney World's operating water park once Typhoon Lagoon closes.
For guests arriving early in September, there's still time to include Typhoon Lagoon in their plans. Those arriving September 9 or later won't have that opportunity.
And because the entire park is closing, guests will also lose access to its attractions, restaurants, and other experiences.
September Vacations Could Need Some Rearranging
None of these closures mean guests should avoid Walt Disney World in September. They do, however, make checking vacation plans before arrival particularly useful.
Restaurant closures may only require choosing somewhere else to eat, while changes to the railroad could affect how guests move around Magic Kingdom. Typhoon Lagoon's closure could require a much larger adjustment for families planning a day at the water park.
Disney can change refurbishment schedules, so guests should continue checking operating calendars as their trips approach.
Knowing what's unavailable ahead of time can help September visitors make those adjustments before they arrive rather than discovering them in the middle of their vacation.
