Getting to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is about to look very different.
Walt Disney World has begun notifying guests about a significant roadway change that takes effect later this month, urging anyone arriving by car to prepare for a completely new traffic pattern near Magic Kingdom.
The resort itself remains open as usual, but a permanent road closure will change how guests enter one of Walt Disney World's most iconic hotels beginning July 13, 2026.

If you're planning a vacation, a character meal, or simply stopping by for dinner and fireworks, it's a change you'll want to know about before pulling into the resort area.
Disney Sends Guests an Important Reminder
Guests with reservations at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort have started receiving emails explaining that ongoing construction will require everyone driving to the resort to use a different route.
The change centers around the permanent closure of the intersection connecting Seven Seas Drive and Floridian Way.
After July 13, Seven Seas Drive will no longer extend beyond the entrance to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Instead of turning directly onto the roadway from Floridian Way, drivers will need to travel north on World Drive before following Disney's updated directional signs into the resort.
It's a relatively simple adjustment once guests know about it, but those relying on muscle memory could easily miss the new entrance during their first visit after the closure.
Here's the Full Message Disney Is Sending
Disney's email explains the upcoming traffic change in detail:
Dear Guest,
We are delighted you have chosen an experience with us at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort! We wanted to share that there will be a new traffic pattern during your upcoming visit due to ongoing roadway improvement projects. If you plan to arrive by car, we kindly ask that you follow Polynesian Resort directional signage on North World Drive to reach the entrance of Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Please allow for additional travel and parking time to reach your destination.
If you have any questions or wish to modify your reservation, please call 407-939-1947 or use the My Disney Experience App.
We look forward to your arrival and wish you a wonderful visit!
Sincerely,
Disney Destinations, LLC
The biggest takeaway is straightforward: allow extra travel time and don't expect the same driving route you've used in the past.
Why Disney Is Making the Change
The closure is tied to Disney's multi-year roadway improvement project around Magic Kingdom, one of the largest transportation initiatives currently taking place at Walt Disney World.
As part of the current construction phase, Disney is redesigning traffic flow throughout the area while building a new roundabout on Floridian Way. The work is intended to improve congestion around one of the busiest sections of the resort, although guests can expect temporary inconveniences until construction wraps up.
That timeline stretches through the end of 2027, meaning additional roadway adjustments could still be on the horizon.
For now, Disney's advice is simple. Follow the updated signs, leave a little earlier than you normally would, and expect a different arrival experience at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort beginning July 13. It may only add a few minutes to the drive, but knowing about the change before your vacation starts can help avoid unnecessary stress at the beginning of your Disney day.
