Disneyland Resort has temporarily closed Broken Spell Lounge at the Disneyland Hotel for refurbishment, removing one of the hotel’s newer evening hangouts during the heart of the 2026 Halloween season. Disney’s official page currently lists the Sleeping Beauty-inspired lounge as closed for refurbishment and tells guests to check back for updates.
The timing is the part likely to sting for fall visitors. Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort runs from August 21 through October 31, meaning the closure overlaps much of a period when seasonal food, entertainment, and late-night resort plans are a major part of a Disneyland trip. Disney has not announced that Disneyland Hotel itself, its lobby, or its other dining locations are closing as part of this project.
Broken Spell Lounge Closure Hits Disneyland’s Halloween Season
Disney’s current Broken Spell Lounge page shows no operating times and confirms the refurbishment, but it does not publish a reopening date. A late-October return has been reported, but Disney’s closure notice does not currently publish a reopening date. Guests should therefore treat any specific return date as unconfirmed and check the official listing before visiting.
That distinction matters during Halloween Time. Disney says its 2026 celebration runs through October 31, with Halloween décor extending beyond the theme parks into Downtown Disney and the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort. In other words, Broken Spell Lounge is going dark during a sizable portion of a season designed to keep guests exploring the broader resort after their park day.
Demand for Halloween evenings is also significant this year. Inside the Magic previously reported that every October date for Oogie Boogie Bash had sold out by the end of August, underscoring how many guests have already committed to fall visits.
A New Disneyland Hotel Lounge Is Already Getting Refurbished
Broken Spell Lounge is still a relatively new name at the Disneyland Hotel. Inside the Magic covered its 2024 debut, when the former Steakhouse 55 space was transformed into a lounge themed to Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Sleeping Beauty.
Disney describes the venue as a sophisticated forest setting for drinks, small bites, desserts, and conversation. Its current official menu includes themed cocktails alongside steak, chicken wings, salads, desserts, and other lounge fare.
Broken Spell was created as a Disney-specific destination guests could build into an evening without making it the centerpiece of a full park day.
Disney has not publicly detailed what work is being completed inside the lounge. There is no official announcement of a retheme, menu overhaul, expansion, or permanent operational change, so any suggestion that the refurbishment represents something larger would be speculation.
Magic Key Holders Lose One Discounted Evening Option
The closure also removes a participating dining location from the menu of options available to Magic Key holders. Disneyland’s official Magic Key discount page currently lists Broken Spell Lounge among participating locations, with the exact discount varying by pass type and applicable terms.
That does not mean Magic Key holders are being barred from the Disneyland Hotel. Disney’s Halloween FAQ specifically says guests can enjoy Halloween decorations at Disneyland Resort hotels and Downtown Disney without a theme park ticket. The confirmed restriction is much narrower: Broken Spell Lounge itself is unavailable while refurbishment is underway.
Still, for local passholders who use the resort as more than a ride destination, losing a lounge can change an evening. Disneyland Hotel Still Has Other Dining Options
Broken Spell’s closure does not leave the Disneyland Hotel without food and drink. Disney’s hotel dining directory continues to list Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill, Goofy’s Kitchen, The Coffee House, and Palm Breeze Bar among the property’s offerings.
Some of those locations have faced refurbishment activity of their own. The pattern is a useful reminder that hotel dining schedules can shift, particularly when maintenance projects are underway.
Guests budgeting for Disneyland dining may also want to check menus before arriving. Inside the Magic reported additional Disneyland restaurant price increases this summer, making advance planning more important for visitors deciding where to spend an evening after leaving the parks.
What Guests Should Watch Before Late October
For now, the only fully confirmed status is that Broken Spell Lounge is temporarily closed for refurbishment. Disney has not announced a permanent closure, replacement concept, or broader restriction on access to the Disneyland Hotel lobby.
Guests visiting during September or October should check Disney’s official Broken Spell Lounge page close to their trip rather than assuming a specific reopening day. A late-October return would bring the lounge back near the end of Halloween Time, but no specific date should be treated as guaranteed until Disney confirms it.
That leaves a frustrating but limited disruption during one of Disneyland’s busiest seasonal stretches: the spell is broken for now, but the lounge itself is still part of Disney’s advertised Disneyland Hotel dining lineup. The next meaningful update will be Disney restoring operating hours or publishing a firmer reopening timetable.
