Crowd Chaos at Disneyland as Mass Overwhelms Park

Guests visiting Disneyland Park on Tuesday were met with unexpected crowds, just days before the Disneyland70 celebrations officially begin. A photo shared by a parkgoer sparked discussion online as fans weighed in on just how packed the Disney parks have become.

Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park are preparing for high attendance this summer, with 70th anniversary festivities scheduled to kick off on Friday, May 16. Though Disneyland Resort won’t officially mark its 70th birthday until July 17, the majority of events, entertainment, and decor are debuting early, drawing in larger crowds ahead of the milestone.

Many guests hoping to enjoy one last quiet visit before the celebration were frustrated by the midweek rush. Reddit user u/One-Picture1903 posted a photo around noon on May 13 showing a sea of guests tightly packed into a walkway.

Other guests quickly chimed in to share similar experiences.

I was there for my son’s middle school band trip,” wrote u/grumpykitten79. “This is my 3rd year chaperoning and I had never seen it that crowded.”

“It was easily the worst I had seen in a while,” u/jacoblaue replied. “When the monorail has a 30 minute wait you know it’s bad.”

Some longtime Disney Parks fans noted that the rising crowds have made them think twice about visiting at all.

Sad to see,” said u/Independent_Wrap_321. “Haven’t been since 2019… It’s just not worth it. I’m glad I went all-out the last time, but this just sucks, especially with only a couple of days to do it all. I’m not waiting all day just to do Pirates and HM. Dammit, this just breaks my heart.”

“Dang i was gonna try to go after work, I think im good,” u/AdDangerous732 replied.

Not everyone agreed that the crowds were out of the ordinary.

You can take this picture anytime on any day,” argued u/anogeissus. “With so many rides down across the park it makes sense this area is busy as it has so many food spots and a good series of rides. Lines aren’t bad today.”

“Tbf there not been a single day I’ve gone where it doesn’t start to look like this sometime in the afternoon,” u/FaronTheHero said. “How busy it is early in the mornings is how you known if it’s gonna be a bad day or not. When the Toy Story parking lot was fully at 9am I swore ever not rope dropping again.”
