On May 12, 2025, a man reportedly jumped into a restricted area of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and wandered in front of a moving log during the Magic Kingdom Park attraction’s operation. This prompted an immediate shutdown as security cast members quickly intervened.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure made its grand debut at Walt Disney World Resort in June 2024. A reimagining of the former Splash Mountain, the ride takes Disney Park guests on a musical journey featuring characters from The Princess and the Frog (2009). Disneyland Resort introduced its version in November.
The incident happened around 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12. when Reddit user u/Legitimate_Try148 took to the platform to describe what they had witnessed. According to the post, Disney cast members escorted the man from the ride and began evacuating the other guests onboard.
Another Magic Kingdom Park guest, u/ugahairydawgs, watched the whole scenario unfold from the bridge overlooking the ride. They described seeing the man on the ride’s pathway “at the bottom of the drop looking for his hat.” According to the Redditor, he jumped the fence after riding the attraction, and when he couldn’t find his hat, he continued digging in the water.
“He was down there for a couple of the logs coming down before they got the ride shut down,” they wrote.
The guest noted how the man ignored instructions to leave the restricted area: “They had people yelling at him to get out and a CM on the intercom telling him to stop moving, but he just ignored it all.”
After some time, a cast member was able to reach the man and escorted him to safety.
The incident caused Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to be temporarily closed for much of the evening. As one Reddit user, u/FileExpensive6135, put it: “I walked all the way over there since it’s not open for after hours and then it was closed, I was pissed. Then after the fireworks they opened it but I was already standing in line for Tron and couldn’t get out of the line and then they closed Tiana’s. People are beyond stupid and entitled.”
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure resumed normal operations on Tuesday, May 13, with no further disruptions reported at the time of this article’s publication.

Years ago, a cousin, a couple friends and I were on big thunder. The ride is almost done, but it stops right after the dino bones. Maybe 5 minutes go by, and a cast member shows up at the train to get things going again. We’re about to start back up, when my cuz jokes with him, ‘do we get a free ride now?’. The cast member said, ‘if you want to.’ The train made it back, but no one got off. Don’t remember if we heard what had happened to make it stop. Very cool of them! 👍
For serious Disney attraction fans, there’s nothing better than having an attraction shut down during mid-ride. I especially remember getting out of the log in “Splash Mountain.” We were greeted by a cast member who led us out along the winding paths with a wonderful behind the scenes look at the attraction.
I was on the ride when it was stopped then shutdown lol now I know why. Even took a small video 😂
I was stuck on the haunted house ride for around 5 to 10 minutes and I sat watching the ballroom dancers and tried to feel if it was creepier than I thought and i did not get scared and simply enjoyed it. lol
