Star Wars merchandise is being heavily discounted at one Disneyland Park, just weeks before The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026) hits theaters.
Concerns Before Film Premiere

The Mandalorian & Grogu opens in theaters on May 22, 2026, and by most early indicators, it isn't heading into that premiere with much momentum. The film — originally conceived as the fourth season of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian — stars Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, and Sigourney Weaver as Ward.
Early box office projections suggest the Jon Favreau-directed feature could post the lowest opening weekend of any Star Wars film released under Disney's ownership. Reports indicate that both Disney and Lucasfilm executives are privately concerned about its commercial potential. The film's saving grace may be its $166 million production budget, the lowest of any Disney-era Lucasfilm release, which gives it a lower bar to clear for profitability.

Critics' early reactions to the first 15 minutes of the film haven't helped the mood among fans. A Reddit comment from u/No_Catch_1490 receiving over 1,200 upvotes read:
“As is the case for many I suspect, I simply do not care about this film. The show lost me when it started getting embroiled in Jedi/Sequels stuff, and most crucially I know the actions of Mando or anyone else are pointless because the Sequels will occur. It could actually be a good film (though this sounds increasingly unlikely each time we hear something about it) and it would still fall flat for that reason.”
“This seems like it's not even bad,” u/AmbitiousElk4002 added. “Just straight up a nothing movie. [Nothing] of value, spectacle, depth, etc.”
