Easter Celebration Slashed From Disneyland Due to Budget Cuts

Disneyland Resort is making some unexpected changes to its 2025 Easter celebrations.

While Easter isn’t the biggest holiday at the Disney parks, it’s still a popular time for locals and tourists alike. Guests who visit during the season can enjoy Easter egg hunts, limited-time food offerings, and the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny on Disneyland Park’s Main Street, U.S.A. But this year, one much-loved offering will be noticeably absent.

Over the past few years, the chocolate Easter eggs at Disneyland Park’s Candy Palace have become a fan favorite. Disney Park guests eagerly lined up morning after morning to try one of the limited-edition eggs, which were filled with delicious fudge in flavors like peanut butter and chocolate cream. The eggs were handmade by Disney cast members in small batches, making them an exclusive treat for visitors.

Uh this peanut butter #Disneyland egg is just 🤤 I feel like I should get another even though I still have a fudge one to open. 🤔

In previous years, guests could watch as the cast members hand-crafted each chocolate Easter egg at Candy Palace, giving them a unique behind-the-scenes experience of the sweet treat’s creation. But in 2025, Disneyland Resort will no longer offer this beloved offering. The Easter Foodie Guide released by Disney Parks Blog for Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort included several returning items like Bunny Cereal Treats, festive caramel apples, and Easter cake pops, but the chocolate eggs were notably absent.

While Disneyland Resort has not officially shared the reason for removing the chocolate Easter eggs, rumors have been circulating. According to WDWNT, the Southern California Disney park has reportedly pulled the popular item due to “budget cuts.”

The handmade nature of the chocolate eggs and the time it took for cast members to create them may have contributed to Disney’s decision. It’s possible that, with the growing popularity of mass-produced treats, the cost of hand-making each egg was no longer deemed feasible.

Though Disneyland Resort has not confirmed the reports, the Southern California Disney park has recently scaled back various offerings. Multiple entertainment options were removed from Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park last year, leading many to speculate that more cutbacks could be on the way.
