Disneyland Resort officially kicked off construction Monday on a project that will reshape how guests arrive at the Southern California theme parks for years to come.
A Surprise Groundbreaking Ceremony
Disneyland Resort released photos from the official groundbreaking of its new parking structure and transportation hub on August 24. Theme park journalist Scott Gustin shared the images on X (formerly known as Twitter), along with concept art and a statement from Disneyland Resort President Jill Estorino, posting:

Disney hadn't previously confirmed that groundbreaking would happen this week, though signs of progress were already visible. Just last week, crews began demolishing four ticket booths along the esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, clearing space for a pedestrian bridge that will eventually connect to this new hub.
What the New Structure Will Include
Set to rise along Disney Way, the eight-story parking structure will offer 6,000 parking spaces, 302 electric vehicle charging stations, a dedicated security headquarters, and designated drop-off and pickup areas for rideshare services and shuttles. The site is replacing the former Manchester Parking Lot, which had been reserved exclusively for Disney cast members.
Disneyland Resort first unveiled plans for the structure last year, positioning it as the first major piece of the broader DisneylandForward expansion. As part of that initiative, The Walt Disney Company has committed millions toward new development across the Southern California parks, including a Coco (2017)-themed ride and an Avatar (2009) experience planned for Disney California Adventure Park. The new parking and transportation hub is designed to support the increased guest traffic that those additions (and others) are expected to bring.
Disneyland Resort has not announced an opening timeline for the parking structure or the pedestrian bridge. Construction is expected to continue for several years, running alongside other attraction development at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.
