Summer may still be in full swing, but Disneyland is already preparing for one of its biggest seasonal transitions of the year. As the resort wraps up its 70th Anniversary celebration and gets ready for Halloween festivities, guests visiting next month will notice a couple of familiar attractions temporarily disappearing from the lineup.

Neither closure is permanent, but both could affect vacation plans if you're hoping to experience everything Disneyland has to offer during an August visit.
The most significant closure involves Haunted Mansion, one of the park's most beloved attractions. Beginning August 8, the ride will temporarily close so Disney can install the annual Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay. It's a tradition that has become just as anticipated as Halloween Time itself.

Inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), the seasonal version transforms the attraction into a unique blend of Halloween and Christmas. Jack Skellington, Sally, Zero, and other familiar characters take over the mansion, creating an experience that feels completely different from the classic attraction.
Although the closure may disappoint guests visiting during that brief window, it won't last long. Disney plans to reopen Haunted Mansion Holiday on August 21, giving visitors plenty of opportunities to experience the seasonal version throughout Halloween and the holiday season.
The overlay has been a Disneyland tradition since 2001 and continues drawing large crowds every year. For many longtime fans, it's become an attraction they look forward to just as much as the original ride.

Another closure arrives just two days later.
Beginning August 10, Main Street Cinema will also close. While it's a much quieter attraction than Haunted Mansion, it has been offering something special during Disneyland's 70th Anniversary celebration.
Instead of showing its usual collection of classic Disney cartoons, the theater has been presenting The Last Verse, a short film celebrating the famous “it's a small world” song and the final verse written by Disney Legend Richard M. Sherman.
The timing of the closure lines up closely with the conclusion of Disneyland's anniversary celebration, which officially ends on August 9. Disney hasn't announced exactly what guests will find inside Main Street Cinema when it returns, but many fans expect the theater to resume showing classic animated shorts after the anniversary festivities conclude.

Unlike Haunted Mansion, however, Main Street Cinema doesn't currently have a reopening date. Disney has only confirmed when the attraction will close, leaving guests waiting for more information about its return.
These temporary closures are part of Disneyland's normal seasonal cycle. Every year, attractions, entertainment, and experiences change as the resort moves from summer into Halloween and eventually the holiday season.
For guests planning an August vacation, the closures simply mean it's worth checking Disneyland's refurbishment schedule before arriving. If Haunted Mansion sits near the top of your must-do list, your travel dates could determine whether you experience the original attraction or its Haunted Mansion Holiday transformation.
Meanwhile, anyone hoping to watch The Last Verse inside Main Street Cinema will want to visit before the anniversary celebration comes to an end.
Disneyland rarely stays the same for long, and these latest changes are another reminder that every season brings something new to discover.
