Disneyland’s Security Team Is Watching Your Headlights — In a Good Way

Imagine this: after a magical day spent exploring Disneyland, you return to your car only to find it won’t start. Maybe you left the headlights on, maybe your battery had one too many cold starts — either way, you're stuck. Fortunately, there’s a bit of unsung Disney magic waiting in the parking lot.

As surprising as it might sound, Disneyland offers complimentary vehicle jump-starts for guests who find themselves with a dead battery. This thoughtful service came into the spotlight recently thanks to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by theme park enthusiast Matt, who goes by the handle @DisneyScoopGuy.

Matt shared a photo of a printed note left on a car dashboard at Disneyland Resort, captioned:

“This is so cool! If you accidentally leave your headlights on at Disneyland, security will leave this note on your car in case you need assistance if your battery dies!”

The paper, left by a Disney security team member, reads:

To our Disneyland Resort guests:
Our security cast member noticed that your vehicle lights were left on. If you need assistance starting your vehicle, please contact the nearest cast member or call 714-781-4330.
If you are parked in the Mickey & Friends or Pixar Pals Parking Structure, you may contact us by pushing the nearest guest assistance button located in the parking structures.

Yes, It’s Free

While some skeptics online assumed there might be a catch, Matt was quick to shut down the idea that Disney might charge for the assistance. One user responded to his post with:

“Until they charge you $85 to jump your car. You think the note is them being nice but really it’s just another money grab.”

Matt replied bluntly:

“They jump your car for free.”

And that’s the truth — there’s no fee for this service. If your battery dies while you’re parked at Disneyland Resort, simply contact the number listed or use one of the guest assistance buttons in the garage. Help will arrive shortly.

A Hidden Gem of Guest Services

Disneyland is well known for its immersive attractions, themed dining, and costumed characters — but sometimes it’s the little behind-the-scenes touches that leave the biggest impression. In this case, something as simple as a jump-start has guests singing Disney’s praises.

Responses to Matt’s post were overwhelmingly positive, with many users expressing shock that such a service even exists:

  • “Had no idea #Disneyland did this and am impressed.”

  • “This is amazing and the level of customer service I expect from Disney!!!”

  • “Very cool because you can feel so helpless.”

One guest even compared it to their experience at another park, writing:

“Disney magic has had its fair share of issues, but this kind of thing goes a long way. I have passed many cars dead in the water at close at Cedar Point with people frantically trying to figure out how to move their car.”

Others shared firsthand stories of the service in action. One user recalled:

“Yes! One time my car was dead and I was panicking and someone told me to hit the button and they came and jump started me. It was amazing.”

Another chimed in with a different kind of car trouble:

“I once locked my keys in the car in the DTD lot. Went to the info booth and they sent someone from security to my car and got it open. 👍🏻”

Here’s What To Do If It Happens To You

If you’re visiting Disneyland and return to a vehicle that won’t start, here’s how to get help:

  • Look for a note: If security noticed your lights were on, they may have already flagged the issue and left a message on your windshield.

  • Call for help: Dial 714-781-4330 — the number listed on the note — to request assistance.

  • Push the assistance button: Inside the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals structures, you’ll find clearly marked Guest Assistance Buttons. These connect directly to security personnel who can dispatch help.

  • Ask a cast member: Can’t find a phone or button? Any cast member can guide you through the process or make the call for you.

Once contacted, security will dispatch someone with jumper cables to get your vehicle running again — no need to wait for a third-party towing company or pay out of pocket.

More Than Just a Theme Park

While it may not be advertised in brochures or highlighted on Disney’s official site, this complimentary battery jump service is just one of many examples of how the resort continues to prioritize the guest experience — even outside the parks themselves.

At a time when most services come with a surcharge, Disney’s willingness to assist stranded drivers without fanfare — or a fee — stands out. Whether you're a Magic Key holder or a first-time visitor, knowing help is available if you run into car trouble is a welcome dose of peace of mind.

So next time you're in the middle of rope-dropping Space Mountain and you suddenly wonder if you left your headlights on — don't panic. Disneyland’s security team has you covered.

Because even when the magic ends at the front gate, the customer service doesn’t.
