Disney’s Next Global Theme Park Project Will Touch 17 Attractions

The number keeps growing. Disney has now confirmed seventeen new attractions spread across its parks in the United States, Europe, and Asia, and with D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on the horizon, the full picture of what the company is building right now is worth understanding before that event fills in even more details.

This is not a list of rumors or patent filings. These are confirmed attractions with official descriptions, concept art, and in several cases active construction underway. Some have opening timelines. Others are still in early enough stages that D23 is likely where Disney will say more. All seventeen are real and coming to a Disney park somewhere in the world.

Here is everything that has been confirmed, organized by park.

Walt Disney World

Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom are all receiving major new lands simultaneously, which represents a scale of simultaneous expansion that Walt Disney World has not attempted before.

Piston Peak National Park at Magic Kingdom

Frontierland is being transformed into a Cars-inspired land called Piston Peak National Park. Two rides are confirmed. The first is a rally race-style attraction with a queue built inside a Piston Peak National Park visitor lodge. The experience puts guests in a race through mountains, dodging geysers and waterfalls. The second is a family-friendly ride with a queue set inside a ranger lodge, featuring a brand-new character named Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore, who guides guests through the history of Piston Peak during the wait.

Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is getting a Monsters, Inc.-themed land called Monstropolis. The headline attraction is Disney's first suspended roller coaster, built around the doors scene from the film. A second ride is also planned inside the Glob Theater, but Disney has not confirmed what it will be. That detail is expected at D23.

Pueblo Esperanza at Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom's former DinoLand U.S.A. footprint is being rebuilt as Pueblo Esperanza, a Tropical Americas-inspired land with three confirmed rides. A family carousel featuring animals from Disney films. An Encanto attraction that takes guests inside the Madrigal family home at the specific moment after Antonio receives his gift of communicating with animals. And an Indiana Jones adventure set in a Mayan Temple, built on the bones of the former DINOSAUR attraction but described as a completely different experience.

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are receiving significant new content as part of both standard expansion and the broader DisneylandForward initiative.

Coco Ride at Pixar Pier, Disney California Adventure

A Coco-themed ride is coming to Pixar Pier. Disney has not shared extensive details but has confirmed that music will be central to the experience and that guests will travel to the Land of the Dead alongside Miguel.

Stark Flight Lab at Avengers Campus, Disney California Adventure

Avengers Campus is expanding with two new rides. Stark Flight Lab is the more technically unusual of the two. Guests board a ride vehicle that travels along a track into Stark Labs, then disconnects and connects to a robotic arm that simulates flight in an Iron Man suit. It combines two distinct ride technologies in a single experience.

Avengers Infinity Defense at Avengers Campus, Disney California Adventure

The second Avengers Campus addition is Avengers Infinity Defense, a multiverse adventure in which guests help the Avengers stop King Thanos.

Avatar-Themed Land at Disneyland

A new Avatar-themed land is coming to Disneyland through the DisneylandForward initiative. The main attraction is a boat ride through the valleys and open seas of Pandora. Additional experiences tied to DisneylandForward may follow.

Disneyland Paris

Pride Lands at Disney Adventure World

Disney Adventure World recently opened at Disneyland Paris, but one of its lands, Pride Lands, has not yet launched. Themed to The Lion King, the land's confirmed attraction is a large-scale water flume ride built inside a massive Pride Rock structure.

Explorer Sky Swings at Disney Adventure World

An Up-inspired attraction called Explorer Sky Swings is set to open in 2027. The ride is designed to complement the themed gardens along Adventure Way.

Wreck-It Ralph Ride at Tokyo Disneyland

Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters at Tokyo Disneyland is being replaced by a Wreck-It Ralph attraction that keeps the interactive shooting gameplay intact. Guests play inside the Sugar Rush game world, where King Candy is causing glitches. Ralph and Vanellope are along for the ride.

New Space Mountain at Tokyo Disneyland

Tokyo Disneyland's Space Mountain is being fully reimagined. It will remain an indoor roller coaster but with “enhanced performance and immersive special effects that will provide guests with even more thrills.” The new version is expected to open in 2027.

Spider-Man Attraction

A Spider-Man ride is confirmed for Hong Kong Disneyland. Doctor Octopus targets new Stark Industries technology, and Spider-Man steps in to protect guests and the tech. Concept art for the attraction suggests it may be a Tower of Terror-style drop experience.

Spider-Man Roller Coaster

Shanghai Disneyland is receiving its first major Marvel attraction: a Spider-Man roller coaster. Disney describes it as a “high-speed, fully immersive experience” that puts guests alongside Spider-Man as he navigates trouble.

What All of This Means for Guests Planning Disney Trips

Seventeen confirmed rides across eight parks on three continents tells you something about the scope of Disney's current investment. What it does not automatically tell you is when any of these attractions will actually open, and that is the piece of information that matters most for trip planning.

The 2027 targets currently on the books are Explorer Sky Swings at Disneyland Paris and the new Space Mountain at Tokyo Disneyland. Beyond those, confirmed opening dates are sparse. Piston Peak at Magic Kingdom is the furthest along in terms of visible construction, but no date has been officially announced. The Monstropolis and Pueblo Esperanza lands at Walt Disney World similarly remain without formal timelines. The Disneyland California expansions through DisneylandForward are tied to a larger initiative that is still being developed.

D23 is traditionally when Disney uses its biggest platform to announce opening dates, new details, and in some cases entirely new projects. With seventeen confirmed rides already on the board before that event, the fan community heading into D23 has more confirmed information to work with than it typically does at this stage of the development cycle. What comes out of the event is likely to add timelines to several of these projects and potentially introduce new ones.

For guests building travel plans around specific new attractions, the realistic advice is to keep 2027 and 2028 as the target window for most of what is listed here, with some projects potentially arriving earlier and others likely later.

Which of these rides are you planning your next Disney trip around? Leave a comment with where you are going and what you are most looking forward to. And if D23 changes any of these plans with new announcements, we will have the updates as they come.
