Universal’s Epic Universe is supposed to be the game-changer in Orlando’s theme park scene. And yes, it’s massive, detailed, and loaded with tech-heavy attractions. But like any flashy new ride or gadget, it’s also proving that shiny doesn’t always mean smooth.
One recent moment on the Donkey Kong coaster was a little too revealing — and not in the magical, immersive way Universal probably hoped.

Lands Packed With Eye Candy
The park is split into multiple lands, each acting like a self-contained world.
How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk brings in a suspended coaster (Hiccup’s Wing Gliders), a family spinner (Dragon Racer’s Rally), and the live-action stunt show The Untrainable Dragon.
Then there’s Dark Universe, where Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment delivers scares while Curse of the Werewolf keeps things family-friendly.

In The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, the star ride, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, is an all-out magical brawl with trackless vehicles. The Floo Network Transit offers a tamer but still immersive transport-style experience.
Finally, Celestial Park is the central hub with Starfall Racers, a high-speed dueling coaster, and the glowing Constellation Carousel.

Nintendo’s Big Win
Ask guests which land they’re most excited about, and SUPER NINTENDO WORLD wins by a mile. Walking in feels like stepping straight into a video game, with sound effects, animated scenery, and characters everywhere you turn.
The lineup includes the AR-driven Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, the slow-and-scenic Yoshi’s Adventure, and the innovative Mine-Cart Madness. This Donkey Kong coaster’s “jumping track” effect is one of the coolest tricks in the park.
When it works.

The TikTok That Universal Probably Wishes Didn’t Exist
TikTok user @dlovegocrazy posted a now-viral clip that’s hard to unsee. Mine-Cart Madness had just ended, but one guest was stuck — literally. Their lap bar wouldn’t budge, leaving them trapped while a small squad of employees surrounded the cart, trying to free them.
There’s no panic, but plenty of awkwardness. Workers pull, push, and examine the mechanism while the rider sits, scrolling their phone, clearly over it. The video doesn’t show exactly how long it took, but “long enough to film a TikTok” is never a great look.
Growing Pains — or a Warning Sign?
Glitches happen, sure. But Epic Universe is supposed to be Universal’s next-level theme park, and moments like this chip away at the “cutting-edge perfection” narrative. It’s one thing to get stopped mid-ride; it’s another to end up stuck in your seat at the end of it.
Guests Still Line Up
None of this is keeping fans away. The ride remains one of the most popular in the park, and SUPER NINTENDO WORLD continues to dominate social media. But the truth is, Epic Universe is still a work in progress.
And until the park smooths out these bumps, guests might be in for more surprises than they bargained for — some magical, others… not so much.
