Entire Disney Park To Close Nearly 3 Hours Early Today, All Guests Will Be Removed

One Disney park is set to close early to all guests today.

Disney parks occasionally close early for reasons that have little to do with day-to-day operations. Private buyouts, media events, and large-scale corporate functions can require parks to adjust hours with limited public impact, allowing Disney to host high-profile gatherings without disrupting standard schedules for extended periods.

Earlier this month, Magic Kingdom shut down early for all guests to host Disney's annual Service Celebration – an event honoring more than 6,500 cast members who've worked for 10 to 50 years of service with the company.

Similarly, Tokyo Disney Resort shuttered both of its parks – Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea – at 7 p.m. for a private event in January.

Some early closures are even more drastic. Back in October, Walt Disney Studios Park (which will become Disney Adventure World from next month with the opening of World of Frozen) started closing in phases from 11 a.m. onwards, much to the displeasure of guests.

Disneyland Paris also routinely closes both of its parks early for a few days in the run-up to Christmas in order to host private events for its cast members.

Disney Park Will Close Early For All Guests Today

Today, another early closure will impact Disney park guests.

Tokyo Disneyland – home to the likes of Pooh's Honey Hunt, Big Thunder Mountain, Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions, and Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast – is closing at 6.30 p.m. instead of 9 p.m.

Tokyo Disney Resort hasn't confirmed the reason for its early closure. However, it's safe to assume that a private event requires the park to be empty of guests.

Fortunately, guests aren't totally deprived of the magic this evening. Tokyo DisneySea remains open until 9 p.m., meaning guests can still enjoy the likes of Tower of Terror, Soaring: Fantastic Flight (if they're willing to brave the lines), Toy Story Mania!, and Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey.

Unlike other Disney resorts, park hopping isn't typically an option for Tokyo Disney Resort guests, meaning you can't just jump from Tokyo Disneyland to Tokyo DisneySea once the former closes. However, 1-Day Park Hopper Passports are currently available as of January 13 and will remain available until March 31, 2026.

This means guests may begin park hopping at 11:00 a.m., though the process comes with a small added step. Each time a guest exits a park or moves between locations, a cast member must be notified at the exit so the ticket can be scanned and re-entry properly processed.

Ongoing Changes at Tokyo Disney Resort

There's a lot going on at Tokyo Disneyland right now – especially in Tomorrowland.

After shuttering and demolishing its version of Space Mountain, it's building a newer, bigger, more technologically advanced take on the iconic indoor roller coaster. Oriental Land Company has announced a budget of 70.5 billion yen for the attraction, making it the most expensive attraction ever built by Walt Disney Imagineering.

Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters also closed for good in 2024 after 20 years of operation. The attraction is being replaced by a new Wreck-It Ralph (2012)-themed attraction, set to open in 2027 after being delayed from 2026.
