Epcot 101 - An Overview of Future World and World Showcase

Ratatouille Ride Euro Disney

2. Characters

At Future World you can meet the one and only Mickey at the Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, his very own best friend Pluto near the main entrance, and Inside Out’s Joy near Imagination! (which makes sense, of course). Ralph and Vanellope can also be found at Imagination! too. But why aren’t they in their virtual home world, you ask? Well, Ralph did break the internet… remember?

Over at World Showcase you’ll be even more spoilt for choice, especially as you’re able to find most characters in their authentic settings. Melt your heart with Anna and Elsa at Royal Sommerhus in Norway, go down the rabbit hole and meet Alice in United Kingdom, sing and dance with Belle in France, bow before brave warrior Mulan in China, let Princess Jasmine leave you feeling “speechless” in Morocco, and it’s “off you go” to see Snow White in Germany!

1. Upcoming Changes

You didn’t think you’d leave without learning a little bit more about what to expect from Epcot in the coming years, did you? In terms of attractions, perhaps the biggest two that are set to arrive are of course Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, at Future World and World Showcase, respectively. And while your favorite galactic misfits aren’t landing until 2021, the miniature chef Remy will be arriving sometime this year.

Meanwhile, pay a visit to the Odyssey Events Pavilion. Here you’ll learn all about Epcot’s ongoing developments, future plans and overall evolution in a series of exhibits, courtesy of Walt Disney Imagineering. Walt Disney himself even said “Epcot will always be in a state of becoming”, and this exhibition certainly proves he was a man true to his word.

There’s far more to Future World and World Showcase than what we’ve outlined in this mini-guide, and the rest of Epcot for that matter. While each Disney Park offers something truly unique, Epcot takes unique to a whole new level.
