A “suspicious hazard” was reported near EPCOT on Monday, just days after the latest in a string of tragic deaths at Walt Disney World Resort.
String of Tragic Deaths at Disney World

Since mid-October, five guests have died at Walt Disney World Resort hotels. The first incident occurred on October 14, when 31-year-old Summer Equitz, described as a “Disney superfan” from Illinois, died by suicide at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Just days later, another guest passed away from natural causes at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds. Then, on October 22, a 28-year-old man named Matthew Cohn died by suicide near Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
The heartbreaking series of events continued into November. On November 2, a woman in her 40s died of natural causes at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Less than a week later, another woman died at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has not shared her cause of death, but investigators have not stated that they suspect foul play.

Based on the address provided to first responders, the hazard was reportedly located somewhere between Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. Both Disney Resort hotels sit alongside Crescent Lake and are within walking distance of EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance — the same area where guests board and exit the Disney Skyliner gondola system.
No Public Statement or Updates
Authorities have not released additional details about what was found or what prompted the call. The term “suspicious hazard” can refer to a wide range of situations, from an unattended bag left behind by a guest to a more serious safety concern. However, there are no indications that anyone was injured or that the area was evacuated during the response.

Walt Disney World Resort has not issued a public statement regarding the incident, which is standard procedure for minor or precautionary law enforcement investigations.
