This weekend, Walt Disney World Resort guests were caught off guard when an animal bolted through EPCOT, dodging crowds before making a run for the exit. The unexpected escape sparked confusion as onlookers tried to make sense of what had just happened.
A Chaotic Scene at EPCOT
On Sunday evening, parkgoers witnessed an animal sprinting through the World Showcase at EPCOT, causing some to stumble as it weaved through the crowd. Social media quickly filled with firsthand accounts from startled guests who watched the scene unfold.

“Around 9:00 last night at EPCOT, walking over the bridge from Paris towards the Skyliner, a dog ran directly into the back of my legs,” u/Mysteriously_Pain_9598 wrote on Reddit. “Poor thing was panicking and appeared scared of the fireworks. A man was running after him, but that dog was fast.”
“I was so worried about him,” they added. “He looked terrified. I heard security talking about him and people were trying to help. I believe he headed past the Skyliner and over the bridge towards either Boardwalk or the Yacht Club.”
A Frantic Dash From EPCOT to a Nearby Hotel
The runaway turned out to be a service dog in training who had been startled by the Luminous The Symphony of Us fireworks show. Witnesses said the dog bolted from the American Adventure Pavilion, zigzagging through EPCOT before making a beeline for the International Gateway exit.

Despite multiple guests and cast members attempting to catch the dog, it managed to outrun them all and made its way toward the nearby Swan and Dolphin hotels.
“We saw a dog running by the Swan/Dolphin about 20 minutes ago but weren’t fast enough to catch him. Looked like he had a vest on and might have been a service dog,” u/mjd459 reported.
What Happened Next
According to Disney Parks fans following the incident, the runaway belonged to a service dog training company conducting evaluations inside EPCOT that evening.

u/colets23 explained:
“A service dog training company was in the park with four mals as part of their final test to graduate their service dog course. Once the fireworks started, the dog took off from the U.S. Pavilion all the way out of the park by France. My wife and I ran after it from Japan to France and we met with the trainer where she said it was her client’s dog. We talked to the owner and trainer both. They said it had a tracker. Heard later it was found.”
“Dog was fine and was caught,” u/rilanthefirebug confirmed.
No Official Statement From Disney

Walt Disney World Resort has not issued a statement about Sunday evening’s incident at EPCOT. While Disney allows service animals in most areas, loud noises and unfamiliar environments can sometimes prove overwhelming, as this case demonstrated. Fortunately, the situation ended with the dog being safely located.
