A subtle but significant change has taken place at EPCOT as Walt Disney World Resort prepares to welcome a new adults-only lounge. To improve the view from GEO-82, a sophisticated bar inspired by Spaceship Earth, Disney has removed part of the landscaping surrounding the Walt Disney statue at Dreamers Point.
Dreamers Point, which opened in December 2023 as part of EPCOT’s World Celebration neighborhood, features a bronze statue called “Walt the Dreamer.” The memorial sits near Spaceship Earth and offers guests a peaceful retreat amidst the Disney park’s bustling energy. Its debut marked the culmination of EPCOT’s multi-year overhaul that introduced fresh experiences such as Connections Cafe, Communicore Plaza, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and Journey to Water, Inspired by Moana.
However, as Disney prepares to debut GEO-82 on June 4, 2025, some adjustments were necessary. The lounge, located on the second floor of the Spaceship Earth post-show area, will provide upscale cocktails and international small bites, alongside sweeping views of the EPCOT World Showcase. Each night, the lounge will offer a pricey viewing package for the Luminous The Symphony of Us fireworks show.
To ensure guests at GEO-82 enjoy unobstructed views of Luminous The Symphony of Us, Disney removed two large pine trees that had framed the Walt Disney statue at Dreamers Point. The trees had blocked some windows and interfered with what will be a premium fireworks viewing experience from the bar’s second-floor perch.
BlogMickey reported the trees were missing as of June 2, just days before the grand opening of GEO-82. While Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t issued an official comment on the tree removal, it appears that the change was made to enhance the new lounge’s atmosphere and sightlines.
