Change has always been part of EPCOT’s DNA. From futuristic showcases of technology to cultural storytelling around World Showcase, the park has never stood still.
However, the shifts happening now feel like something bigger—an overhaul that will transform the park's appearance and ambiance when 2026 arrives.
Balancing the Classic With the New
Guests visiting EPCOT today can hop on high-energy rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or slow down for a classic journey through Living with the Land.
Families love Frozen Ever After in Norway, while foodies drift from pavilion to pavilion tasting bites inspired by the world. At its center is Spaceship Earth, the globe-shaped structure that defines the skyline.
Even with such a strong lineup, Disney has made a series of significant moves that ensure EPCOT remains fresh.

Spaceship Earth’s Long-Awaited Update
In August 2025, Disney temporarily closed Spaceship Earth for refurbishment of the decades-old attraction. This wasn’t just about repairs—it’s about preserving a classic while improving the ride experience.
The plan is for the attraction to reopen by late October, just in time for holiday crowds. Fans are hoping for smoother tracks, sharper effects, and modernized storytelling, all while preserving the heart of the ride.

Holiday Cheer at World Showcase
Once Spaceship Earth is back, EPCOT will waste no time pivoting to its beloved Festival of the Holidays. Running through the end of the year, the event transforms World Showcase into a celebration of international traditions.
The Candlelight Processional remains the star, blending narration, music, and a mighty choir to celebrate the season. It’s a reminder that EPCOT is as much about culture as it is about thrills.

Test Track Reimagined
In 2025, Test Track reemerged as Test Track 3.0, giving fans a fresh reason to line up. While the iconic high-speed outdoor loop remains, the queue and design elements now reflect a stronger focus on progress and innovation, the very themes EPCOT was built on.
Guests can still customize their dream cars, but the overall experience feels more in step with EPCOT’s futuristic vision.
The GEO-82 Lounge Opens Its Doors
For those needing a break from the action, June brought the debut of the GEO-82 Lounge. This new space provides superb comfort and a nostalgic nod to EPCOT’s 1982 opening year.
With its sleek décor and modern touches, it has become a favorite resting point for guests who want to pause without leaving the magic behind.

A Resort-Wide Wave of Change
EPCOT’s updates are just one part of Walt Disney World’s ongoing transformation. Magic Kingdom introduced its new Disney Starlight parade, dazzling nighttime crowds.
Animal Kingdom is dismantling DinoLand U.S.A. to make way for the Tropical Americas, with DINOSAUR set to close in February 2026.
Hollywood Studios, meanwhile, is reworking its animation presence, closing Star Wars Launch Bay and Disney Junior Play & Dance to begin its overhaul.

A Reimagined Future
All of these moves—both inside EPCOT and across the resort—point to a bigger picture. Disney is actively preparing for a new generation of guests. EPCOT, long criticized for feeling like a construction zone, is finally emerging polished and redefined.
By the time 2026 begins, the park will welcome guests with a smoother Spaceship Earth, an upgraded Test Track, the cozy GEO-82 Lounge, and the cultural magic of the Festival of the Holidays. EPCOT isn’t just changing—it’s stepping into a new identity, one that honors its past while embracing the future.
