Exclusive Last Showing of Muppet*Vision 3D Reserved for One Special Group

Disney Parks have always been places of change. With every new attraction that opens, something familiar often takes its final bow. While guests flock to the parks for the latest innovations and themed lands, many longtime fans hold just as tightly to the classics—the experiences that shaped their childhood vacations and became part of family traditions.

These attractions don’t just entertain; they carry emotional weight. So when word spreads that one of them is closing, it never goes unnoticed.

For decades, Muppet*Vision 3D has delighted guests at Walt Disney World. A blend of live-action, 3D animation, and that signature Muppet humor, the show stood out as both a technical achievement and a heartfelt tribute to Jim Henson’s legacy. It was quirky, self-aware, and endlessly rewatchable—a little chaotic gem nestled in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

First debuting in 1991, Muppet*Vision 3D quickly became a fan favorite, especially for guests who had grown up with The Muppet Show or its theatrical films. With its jokes aimed at both kids and adults, and appearances from nearly every classic character—from Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy to Statler and Waldorf heckling from the balcony—it captured the anarchic spirit of the franchise in a way no other theme park attraction had.

Though the California Adventure version of the attraction closed in 2014, the Florida original remained open for another decade. But in August 2024, Disney confirmed that The Muppets would be taking their final bow at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The closure is scheduled for June 8, marking the end of an era for many fans.

However, while May 18 was the last day for the general public, one group is being given a special send-off.

Journalist Scott Gustin confirmed the news in a post on X:

NEW: Cast Members at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will have the opportunity to attend an exclusive celebration on June 10 in the Grand Avenue area. As part of the event, Cast Members will be the last people to experience Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo before construction starts.

The decision to offer Cast Members a private farewell showing feels like a thoughtful nod to the people who help bring the magic to life each day. For many, Muppet*Vision 3D has been a part of their own Disney story—whether they worked in the theater, walked past it daily, or simply loved the show as guests themselves.

As most Disney fans know by now, The Muppets area — which includes Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s’s Ristorante Italiano — will be demolished to make way for a new Monsters, Inc. (2001)-themed land.

The upcoming area will showcase a suspended roller coaster that whisks guests through the factory where Mike and Sulley work, eventually taking them into the vault filled with the children’s doors used by the monsters.

Details about other attractions, shops, and dining experiences remain under wraps for now, but more will be revealed as the land gets closer to its grand opening.

Although Muppet*Vision 3D may be closing for good, that doesn’t mean The Muppets are leaving Walt Disney World entirely. Just three months after announcing the removal of Muppets Courtyard, Disney revealed that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will be reimagined — this time starring the iconic Muppet band, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

Disney has shared that Dr. Teeth will join forces with some well-known bands to headline a “rockin’ music festival.” However, no timeline has been announced for when the transformation will begin or when the updated attraction will debut.

Did you get the chance to experience Muppet*Vision 3D one last time before its closure? What do you think Disney should do with the space next? We’d love to hear your memories and ideas—share them in the comments, and keep following Disney Fanatic for more coverage on Disney Parks attractions, closures, and what’s coming next.
