Rock ‘n' Coaster's days are numbered, and Disney World fans are trying to snag their final ride. But when will the final ride be, exactly?
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster will hit its final notes by the end of 2025. Disney has confirmed the attraction will stay open through the end of the year. Sometime in early 2026, the ride will close down to make room for a brand-new experience. While an exact closing date hasn’t been posted, the most likely time is January, right after the New Year’s rush.
This gives guests one last chance to race through L.A. traffic in a stretch limo while blasting Aerosmith classics. Rest easy if you’re heading to Disney World in November or December. You’ll still get your fix of backstage chaos and supercharged speed.

The Muppets Are Taking Over
After years of speculation, Disney confirmed the coaster will return in a totally reimagined form: Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets. This updated version will feature Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem band, with Miss Piggy, Kermit, Animal, and the rest of the crew joining the fun.
This marks the first time the Muppets will lead a crazy coaster experience, and fans are already imagining what kind of hilarious hijinks could unfold. Funky lighting? Muppet cameos? Maybe even a few surprises in the soundtrack.

What the New Coaster Could Look Like
Early concept art and park rumors are giving us a peek into what might be coming. The building’s exterior could transform into a psychedelic concert venue. Picture this. Bright guitars, oversized signage, and posters from Electric Mayhem’s latest “tour.”
Inside, the queue might take on a backstage vibe, showing guests how the band prepares for the wildest concert of their careers. The preshow room—where guests currently see Aerosmith prepping for their gig—may be reworked with Gonzo behind a mixing board or Fozzie Bear fumbling the stage setup.
And don’t forget the new merch. Muppets gear will likely flood the gift shop and spill out onto Sunset Boulevard.

Sunset Boulevard Shake-Up
The Muppet coaster isn’t the only change coming to this corner of the park. Disney also plans to introduce a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land nearby. This land features a suspended coaster and interactive show. Meanwhile, the space formerly occupied by Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy is getting a dark, villainous makeover with a brand-new stage show.
Construction permits have already been filed, meaning the groundwork for these changes is underway, even if the coaster is still spinning guests through loops.
Get Your Final Ride In
If you have fond memories of this coaster—or just want one more ride with Steven Tyler yelling “5, 4, 3…”—you’ll want to visit before 2026 hits. Once the Muppets move in, the experience will be brand new… and just as wild, in its own way.
