Former Disney Starlet’s Plane Struck by Lightning

While celebrities are used to taking to the skies for flights to destinations where they plan to make appearances, severe weather conditions are no joke, and putting safety first is the best way to deal with any tense situation in the air. Former Hannah Montana star and singer Miley Cyrus recently experienced some frightening weather while on a flight to an upcoming event that ultimately resulted in the singer being unable to make an appearance.

Miley Cyrus took to social media Wednesday night to share with her fans that her plane was forced to make an emergency landing due to weather while she and her crew were on their way to the Asunciónico music festival in Paraguay where she was one of the acts listed to perform.

Along with the note about the emergency landing and her regrets that she would then be unable to make the festival, The former Disney Channel star shared a brief video of the lightning strike brightening up the night sky from her plane window during her flight as well as a photo of the damage done to the plane that she took upon landing. The singer also confirmed that she, her crew, band, family and everyone else with her were safe following the aircraft‘s emergency landing.

Cryus’ post reads, “To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción. Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lighting. My crew, band, friends and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing. We were unfortunately unable to fly into Paraguay. I LOVE YOU.”

The Asunciónico festival that Cyrus was scheduled to perform at following other shows she had scheduled throughout South America featured a variety of popular musical artists, some of which were also unable to perform as the first day of the event ended up being canceled due to weather in the area. An annual event celebrating pop, rock, and EDM music in Asunción, Paraguay, other acts unable to perform due to inclement weather included Doja Cat, the Foo Fighters, and Machine Gun Kelly.
