Build a Lightsaber for Free at Disneyland This Summer

Young Jedi-in-training are getting an extraordinary deal at Disneyland Resort this summer at Savi’s Workshop, one of the most sought-after experiences in all of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Beginning May 22, Disneyland Resort is launching the Youngling Saber Building Expo – A Loth-Cat Crew Experience at Savi’s Workshop in Batuu, and it comes at a price that will stun anyone who has ever looked up the standard cost of lightsaber building: free.

The experience is part of Kids Rule Summer at Disneyland Resort and is designed for children aged three to nine who must be accompanied by an adult. Participants and their supervising adults will join the Loth-Cat Crew and work through a lightsaber-building adventure guided by Disney cast members. The session itself carries no charge, a significant departure from the standard $249.99 reservation that normally grants access to Savi’s Workshop.

The free experience covers the workshop itself, not the lightsaber. Children will build during the session, but the finished saber isn’t automatically theirs to keep. Families who want to take the lightsaber home will need to purchase it at the end of the experience. Pricing for that purchase hasn’t been announced yet. Anyone who opts not to buy will need to return it before leaving.

Capacity for the Youngling Saber Building Expo is limited, and full scheduling and pricing details will be available on Disneyland Resort’s official website starting May 22, 2026.

How It Compares to the Standard Savi’s Workshop Experience

For context, the typical Savi’s Workshop experience at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort requires a reservation and a $249.99 per-person fee. That price includes the full immersive Star Wars experience and all the components needed to construct and take home a functional lightsaber, with optional deluxe add-ons available at additional cost.

Walt Disney World Resort has not announced a comparable complimentary Savi’s Workshop offering as part of its own summer programming, Cool KIDS’ Summer, which runs separately at the Central Florida Disney parks.
