Magic Kingdom guests received an unexpected surprise this weekend after Disney quietly opened Jessie’s Roundup ahead of schedule inside Frontierland. The new Toy Story-themed experience was originally supposed to debut on May 26 as part of Walt Disney World’s Cool Kids’ Summer celebration, but Disney decided to soft open the offering a couple of days early instead.

And honestly, families inside the park probably welcomed the timing.
Summer crowds are beginning to build across Walt Disney World, temperatures are climbing quickly, and Magic Kingdom has been looking for more ways to keep younger guests entertained without forcing them into massive attraction waits all day long. Jessie’s Roundup seems designed specifically to solve that problem.
The experience takes over the Diamond Horseshoe in Frontierland, turning the normally quiet indoor location into a temporary Toy Story-themed activity space. Instead of operating as a traditional stage show, Disney created something much more interactive. Kids can walk around, participate in games, dance alongside performers, and interact with Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye throughout rotating show moments.
That flexibility may end up being one of the biggest reasons families love this addition.

There’s no major queue system attached to the experience, and guests are free to enter or leave whenever they want. That means parents can step inside for a quick break from the heat or stay long enough for their kids to experience both live entertainment segments.
The first portion reportedly focuses more on music and sing-along moments, while the second leans into dancing, jump rope performances, and a high-energy yodeling competition led by Woody and Jessie.
For younger children especially, it sounds like exactly the type of environment Disney wants to create this summer.
And honestly, the timing works well for Frontierland.
The area has been surrounded by conversation lately because of all the major transformation projects happening nearby. Between the ongoing changes connected to Piston Peak National Park and Villains Land, parts of Frontierland currently feel like they are caught between old and new Disney eras.

Jessie’s Roundup helps bring some energy back into the land.
The Toy Story characters also fit naturally into the western atmosphere without making the area feel completely disconnected from Frontierland’s identity. That balance matters more than people think, especially right now while longtime fans continue debating Disney’s future plans for the area.
Another thing that will probably make this experience popular? Air conditioning.
That may sound funny, but anyone who visits Magic Kingdom during summer knows indoor entertainment becomes incredibly valuable by the middle of the afternoon. Families constantly look for places to cool down without completely stopping their day, and Jessie’s Roundup offers exactly that.
Disney clearly understands the importance of these types of experiences during summer operations. Not every guest wants to spend all day running between Lightning Lane reservations or standing outside in 90-degree weather.

Sometimes parents just want somewhere fun where kids can move around indoors for half an hour.
That is what makes Jessie’s Roundup feel like a smart addition instead of just filler entertainment. It may not be a giant new attraction, but it fills an important role inside Magic Kingdom during one of the busiest times of the year.
The experience is expected to continue through September 8, giving guests plenty of opportunities to check it out throughout the summer season.
