Disney+ is debuting a fresh take on Frozen (2013) next month with the release of a professionally filmed version of the West End production of Disney on Broadway’s hit musical “Frozen.” The streaming date was announced on Thursday, fulfilling a promise made by Disney at D23 Expo 2024.
Following the success of the “Hamilton” Broadway pro-shot on Disney+ in 2020, this “Frozen” release marks another step in making Broadway shows accessible to audiences at home. Fans have long speculated about a filmed version of “Aladdin” from the West End, but Disney has yet to confirm or announce a release date for that project.
“Frozen,” on the other hand, is finally debuting “In Summer!” According to journalist Scott Gustin (@ScottGustin) on X (formerly Twitter), the musical pro-shot will debut on Disney+ on June 20, 2025:

Frozen: The Hit Broadway Musical (2025) stars the show’s West End cast, featuring Samantha Barks as Elsa, Laura Dawkes as Anna, Jammy Kasongo as Kristoff, Craig Gallivan as Olaf, Oliver Ormson as Hans, and Richard Frame as the Duke of Weselton. Directed by Michael Grandage, the musical features songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and a book by Jennifer Lee.
Disney on Broadway’s “Frozen” first tested audiences in Denver in 2017 before officially opening at New York City’s St. James Theatre in early 2018. It ran for over 800 performances until Broadway shut down in March 2020 due to the pandemic. When theaters reopened, Disney focused on its top performers, “Aladdin” and “The Lion King.” “Frozen” has yet to return to Broadway.
Since 2019, “Frozen” has performed across North America and internationally, including a successful run in London’s West End from 2021 until September 2024.
