Every year, seniors from around Southern California head to The Happiest Place on Earth to celebrate their high school graduation. Disneyland Resort hosts multiple Grad Nites every year. Disney California Adventure Park shuts down early, and the teens head there for dance parties, celebratory drinks and snacks, and, of course, to ride exciting attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!. Unfortunately, one Guest recently attended Disneyland Grad Nite and took to social media to warn others and tell them to not waste their money.
Redditor u/whybother_incertname was one of the people who visited Disneyland with their child for Grad Nite. However, their experience was something that they never want to have again. They even called Grad Nite “the worst.”
Went Friday night to DCA, & it was a waste of time. Almost every ride was closed. What is the point of having the park to ourselves when the only thing you could do was the random dance parties & the old fashioned carnival rides that you can find anywhere?! DAS also had issues all night then stopped working at midnight. As much as I love Disney, I would have rather gone to Universal Studios. #worstgradniteever
While the Redditor may have posted on the platform hoping for agreement or sympathy, many users called the person out. They said that the Redditor should be thankful they got to go at all. Many people do not ever get to go to Disney, and they were lucky their child attended a high school that was able to go to Grad Nite.
While the Redditor agreed, they also pointed out that some kids at Grad Nite may never go back to Disney and the only experience they had was one where a ton of rides and experiences were unavailable. They also said that, because of how much it cost, Disney did not provide the service expected for the price.
Edit: For those mouse kissers saying we’re lucky to have even gone — think of those kids that have never gone, will never get to go again & the one time they do go, nothing works. And for us parents paying for it, it was a total waste of money paying for gradnite instead of a regular ticket. Yes, not everyone gets to have gradnite at DCA or DL. Yes, my kid was lucky his school picked DCA. However, Disney, just like any other company, has an obligation to provide the product you’re paying for and they did not. It was not worth the money or the hours to be there.
Disneyland’s Grad Nite is open to all graduating seniors who live in the Southern California area. Tickets and packages must be purchased through their school, so individual students are not able to attend if their school has not bought the tickets. There are several ticket options available for those attending Grad Nite. Schools can purchase tickets to just Grad Nite. If they would like more time in the Park, then they can purchase a day ticket to DCA and then attend Grad Nite. Schools that want a bit more can purchase a one-day Park Hopper ticket that includes Grad Nite events.
