With less than a month until Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens at Disney's Hollywood Studios, the last traces of the Aerosmith era are disappearing from the show building…one guitar at a time.
The Muppets Take Over Sunset Boulevard

Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closed permanently in March, making way for a full retheme inspired by The Muppets Mayhem series. The reimagined attraction will send riders through a high-speed launch set to Electric Mayhem covers of “Song 2,” “Born to be Wild” featuring Camilla the Chicken, “Love Rollercoaster” featuring Jennifer Hudson and Questlove, “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” featuring Def Leppard, and “Walking on Sunshine” featuring Kelly Clarkson. A post-ride show will include a performance of the band's original track “Can You Picture That?”.
The pre-show features audio-animatronics of the full Electric Mayhem lineup — Dr. Teeth (Bill Barretta), Animal (Eric Jacobson), Floyd Pepper (Matt Vogel), Janice (David Rudman), Zoot (Dave Goelz), and Lips (Peter Linz) — alongside Scooter, Kermit, Miss Piggy, and a collection of penguins. The attraction queue boasts celebrity cameos from Weird Al Yankovic, Awkwafina, Travis Barker, Wayne Brady, Yvette Nicole Brown, Darren Criss, Neil Patrick Harris, John Stamos, and Danny Trejo.

On the exterior, the transformation is already well underway. Scaffolding recently came down from the show building, revealing the completed Stratocaster guitar in a Muppet-inspired rainbow paint scheme:
Scaffolding is down at Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and the completed Stratocaster guitar is now visible. The final paint scheme runs heavier on pink than the concept art suggested, making it a bigger departure from the Aerosmith era than expected.

Another Guitar Gone

On April 30, WDWNT reported that the guitar-shaped “Rock Around the Shop” sign had been removed from the exit of the post-ride gift shop — the last branded Aerosmith holdover on the building's exterior. Rolling planters are currently blocking the doorway where the sign once hung above.
A Muppets-themed replacement sign is expected to go up before the attraction opens, with 27 days remaining on the clock.
27 Days Left

Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets officially opens at Disney's Hollywood Studios on May 26, 2026. Walt Disney World Resort has confirmed that Annual Passholders, Disney cast members, and Disney Vacation Club members will have the opportunity to book preview time slots ahead of the public opening.
