Harambe Market to Close at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park Ahead of Upcoming Replacement

Disney’s Animal Kingdom guests have a temporary dining change to prepare for, as Harambe Market in the Africa section of the park will close starting October 20. The closure comes as Disney begins updates to the popular quick-service location, setting the stage for a refreshed menu featuring burgers and chicken strips, ahead of the planned closure of Restaurantosaurus next year.

A Refresh for Harambe Market

The beloved Harambe Market, long celebrated for its vibrant African-inspired décor and diverse dining options, has been a go-to spot for guests seeking quick bites while exploring Animal Kingdom. Disney has confirmed that the updated location is expected to reopen early next year, offering a revamped menu that promises to deliver fresh casual dining favorites for visitors of all ages.

The menu revamp is part of Disney’s ongoing efforts to maintain a variety of family-friendly dining options as other restaurants, such as Restaurantosaurus, prepare for operational changes. With the closure of Restaurantosaurus on the horizon, Harambe Market’s new offerings aim to fill the gap with classic theme park fare, including kid-friendly favorites like burgers and chicken strips.

Dining Alternatives During the Closure

While Harambe Market undergoes its update, guests are encouraged to explore other dining locations throughout Animal Kingdom. Popular spots like Flame Tree Barbecue, Satu’li Canteen, and Tamu Tamu Refreshments remain open, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner to park-goers seeking both quick meals and full dining experiences.

Disney has not indicated any further changes beyond the menu update, but visitors can expect the refreshed Harambe Market to preserve the immersive and colorful atmosphere that has made it a highlight of Animal Kingdom’s Africa section.

For those eager to try the new menu, Disney recommends monitoring the official Disney Parks website and app for reopening announcements and previews of the updated offerings as early next year approaches. Harambe Market’s temporary closure marks a small pause in the park’s culinary offerings, but it promises to return with even more flavorful options for families and fans alike.
