In addition to the expanded outdoor queue, another exciting feature of the renovation includes the establishment of a new retail shop conveniently located adjacent to the attraction’s exit. This new shop is poised to offer guests a wide array of themed merchandise, allowing them to take a piece of the Haunted Mansion magic home with them. From eerie souvenirs to exclusive collectibles inspired by the ghostly residents of the mansion, visitors will have the opportunity to extend their haunting experience beyond the ride itself.

While these developments are undeniably exciting, many fans are shocked by just how extreme this undertaking really is. The ride, which also has a location in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort, is undeniably extremely special to fans.

The Reality of This Disneyland Demolition

Photos circulating online show just how drastic this renovation really is. These photos show a complete teardown of one of the park’s main areas.

One comment says,

“Oh… my god? I thought they were just re-doing a portion of the queue.”

It is clear that while fans might be excited about some of the new additions, overall, fans are worried about just how much of the original attraction Disney is destroying. Many fans feel that the ride represents a significant part of Disney’s history and should have been preserved better.

With these upcoming enhancements, the Haunted Mansion is primed to become an even more integral part of the Disneyland Resort experience, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the chilling charm of this beloved attraction. The expansion of the grounds, coupled with the introduction of the new retail shop, promises to enrich the overall guest experience and further solidify the allure of the Haunted Mansion as a must-visit destination within the park.

  1. Meeting so called “Code 88” or ADA access requirements is not a trivial engineering task, especially for a theme ride that has already been operating for decades. I am not surprised at this extensive demolition, especially since a whole new elevator system has to be installed at the end of the ride, rather than cycling mobility aid users to go back up the stretching room.
This goes also for the queue, which was width restricted for wheelchairs, walkers and EVA vehicles.
I wonder if this has to be done at WDW as well, eventually.
