Here’s What a Day at Disney World Can Look Like if You Aren’t Prepared

MagicBand

2. MISTAKE: You misplaced your tickets twice, and today you left them at your hotel off property.

And you had already parked, ridden the tram, gone through bag check at the TTC and walked up the ramp to board the monorail before you realized you were ticketless. And to add insult to injury, you still haven’t downloaded the My Disney Experience app where you could have linked your tickets for faster replacement at Guest Services. So now, instead of traveling the “highway in the sky” toward your happy place at Magic Kingdom, you and your family are spending precious park time walking back down the ramp toward the Transportation and Ticket Center. And from the looks of the lines, everybody else needs replacement tickets too. This is going to take a while.

SOLUTION: Skip the tickets and go with the MagicBands. If you are staying at a Disney World Resort hotel, you will receive MagicBands in the mail before your trip, but if you are staying off Disney property and purchasing tickets at the gate, you will be issued plastic credit-card-sized tickets. And even though lost or left behind tickets can be replaced at Guest Services, that process takes valuable time out of your day in the parks. It can also cause you to be late for a dining reservation or a FastPass+ time. Splurge on those $13 MagicBands for the family so you can “wear” your ticket around your wrist every day. MagicBands are designed to stay fastened on your wrist—even when you’re washing your hands or getting soaked on a water ride. Wearing a MagicBand also eliminates the hassle of pulling out your ticket to tap it at the entrance of each attraction, waiting for everyone in your party to do the same and then waiting again while everyone puts his ticket back in his pocket or bag, all the while hoping he doesn’t drop the ticket on the ground without noticing.
