Here’s What a Day at Disney World Can Look Like if You Aren’t Prepared

If you love visiting the parks at Walt Disney World in Florida as much as I do, you probably can’t fathom a wrong way to experience the parks. Neither can I. The only mistake you could make when it comes to vacationing at the Disney World Resort is not vacationing at the Disney World Resort—denying yourself the most magical vacation experience on earth, going through life having never experienced the excitement, sounds, scents and overwhelming joy that come from walking down Main Street U.S.A. toward Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom. But as I take a few moments to think about what might possibly ruin a wonderful day at Disney, the one theme that returns to my mind over and over again is a lack of preparedness and planning (and sometimes the terrible tendency to overplan—rigidity is a magic-killer). Don’t let your Disney World experience be ruined. If you’re not sure what a ruined day looks like at Walt Disney World and what could possibly lead to that outcome, here are 8 mistakes Guests make related to their time in the parks at Disney and corresponding solutions to help ensure you don’t make those same mistakes.

I am a writer and a Mom to four children and two baby shih-tzus. My first experience with the Magic was in 1988, when my parents surprised my brother and me with a visit to Walt Disney World after a short trip to see friends in Georgia. I still hum the tune played during the Main Street Electrical Parade and remember the feeling of excitement from my very first visit. I introduced my husband to the Magic several years ago, and we take our children to the parks every time we can. No matter how many times I visit Walt Disney World, it seems it’s not enough! The ever-changing experience only gets better with each trip, and I’m thrilled to share the Magic with others, as well as some of the tips and tricks to getting the most out of the Magic with each visit!
