How to Become a Princess at Disney Parks in 10 Not-So-Easy Steps

Since you were little, you’ve loved everything to do with Disney princesses. As a little girl, you dreamed of being Cinderella. You imagined yourself as Princess Aurora, dancing in the forest with the handsome Prince Philip. As you got a little older, you began to see yourself as the strong-willed Ariel, and you practiced telling Ursula that you needed no help catching your prince. When you were about 12 years old, you daydreamed about being Belle and being surprised the first time you saw the beautiful library Beast gifted to you. You’ve even practiced a bit of a Cajun dialect as you dreamed you were Princess Tiana, finally running your own restaurant.

And then you went to Walt Disney World.

You were introduced to all of your favorite princesses in person. No longer did you have to only dream or imagine. Snow White, Tiana, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Ariel and Rapunzel were all there for you to meet face to face. As a young girl, you knew you’d never be the same again. And then a Cast Member approached you, and with a smile on her face said, “Come back when you’re older and you can be one of those princesses yourself.”

Those words have stuck with you for several years, and now, you are ready to become a Disney princess at Walt Disney World. How does that happen exactly? What are the requirements? How long does the process take? Well, it’s not easy for sure. But here are ten steps and things you need to know to become a Disney princess, should you decide to follow your heart.

I am a writer and a Mom to four children and two baby shih-tzus. My first experience with the Magic was in 1988, when my parents surprised my brother and me with a visit to Walt Disney World after a short trip to see friends in Georgia. I still hum the tune played during the Main Street Electrical Parade and remember the feeling of excitement from my very first visit. I introduced my husband to the Magic several years ago, and we take our children to the parks every time we can. No matter how many times I visit Walt Disney World, it seems it’s not enough! The ever-changing experience only gets better with each trip, and I’m thrilled to share the Magic with others, as well as some of the tips and tricks to getting the most out of the Magic with each visit!
