How To Stay At A Disney Resort And Still Save Money

Art of Animation

Stock Up on Groceries

Speaking of food, if you’re paying out-of-pocket for your meals and snacks, you can actually save a huge amount of money by skipping the overpriced Disney restaurants whenever possible. This can be done by buying groceries to keep in your room.

Simple breakfast foods, sandwich supplies, and fruits and veggies bought from a grocery store and kept in your room can all help stretch your food budget.

There is a small refrigerator in each hotel room on Disney property, and some rooms have microwaves. If your room doesn’t have a microwave, you can choose to use one in the resort food court to heat up your food.

Skip the Car

Monorail

In most cases, it doesn’t make sense to rent a car when visiting Disney World. In fact, we usually don’t even recommend driving your own vehicle to Disney unless you will be traveling with a large group.

Instead, we highly recommend flying into Orlando and using the Magical Express to get to and from your hotel. From there, you can use the Disney buses to get around on property.

Why do we recommend this? Parking at the Disney hotels isn't cheap, and when you’re staying for several days, this expense adds up fast. Meanwhile, flying into Orlando International Airport is pretty inexpensive from most places.

Therefore, you will want to make sure you carefully compare the cost of each option, making sure to factor the extra travel time required for driving when making your decision.

Book with a Travel Agent

Finally, there is the option of booking with a travel agent. That’s right, this simple move can save you time, make trip planning easier, and save you money. Most people think travel agents cost money, but in most cases this simply isn’t true—and those that do charge a fee tend to keep it very small.

So how do travel agents save you money? These Disney gurus watch for the best Disney deals to be released and pounce on them for you. Even if you already have your travel booked when the deals are revealed, a travel agent can change your booking to include the new discount.

Additionally, because a Disney travel agent will know the ins and outs of Disney World like the back of their hand, they will be able to tell you all their personal favorite tips and tricks for saving money while in Disney.
