This year, Magic Kingdom Park brought Halloween back with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, running August 15 through October 31. Guests visiting on select nights found the park transformed with themed entertainment, trick-or-treating, and character appearances unique to the event. The celebration lasted through August, September, and October, wrapping up on Halloween night.

A highlight for many attendees was the updated appearance of Jack Skellington. Revealed via the Disney Parks Instagram account, the new design reflects his look from The Nightmare Before Christmas, the 1993 film directed by Henry Selick and produced by Tim Burton, with voice work by Chris Sarandon. Fans responded quickly online, with comments like “Awesome, he looks like himself now” and “Looks so much better,” praising the closer alignment with the movie design.

Inside the park, Jack’s redesign drew long lines for photos. Guests were invited to wear Halloween costumes, as Disney again relaxed its costume rules while maintaining safety standards. The new appearance proved to be one of the event’s most talked-about features, showing the ongoing attention Disney gives to updating beloved characters.

Looking forward, the official Disney Parks account confirmed that the redesign will continue into the Christmas season. During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Jack will appear in his “Sandy Claws” outfit. Guests are sharing their enthusiasm for this holiday version, with posts noting “HE LOOKS SO GOOD” and “Best redesign ever.”

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
