JD Vance’s Disneyland Apology? “It Was Pretty Cool,” He Says After Causing Ride Shutdowns

Disneyland Resort is undoubtedly one of the most magical places on Earth, offering something for everyone—from thrilling rides to beloved characters and immersive experiences. It's a destination that attracts millions of visitors each year, with people coming from around the globe to experience the park's world-famous attractions. However, with its immense popularity comes the inevitable downside: long wait times and crowds, particularly during peak seasons.

One of the unique features of Disneyland is its location in Southern California, which means the park frequently draws a crowd of not only tourists but also celebrities. While most visitors blend in seamlessly with the crowds, the presence of high-profile figures can occasionally lead to disruptions, as additional security measures and ride closures are often necessary to accommodate these VIPs.

One such disruption occurred recently when Vice President JD Vance and his family visited Disneyland. As expected, the presence of such a high-profile guest brought about some logistical challenges for the park.

For starters, enhanced security protocols had to be put in place, and certain rides were temporarily shut down during Vance's visit, causing frustration for many of the regular guests who had paid for the chance to experience the park.

In a recent interview on the Katie Miller Podcast, JD Vance discussed the controversy surrounding his Disneyland visit. While acknowledging the inconvenience caused to other guests, Vance kept a lighthearted tone and made a point to apologize for the ride shutdowns, albeit in a somewhat humorous way.

We had the island to ourselves, which was very cool. I had never been to Disneyland. I thought it was awesome. Sorry to all the people who were at Disneyland for the longer lines, but we had a very good time.

While his words are lighthearted, they also reflect a deeper issue within the park: how Disneyland handles visits from high-profile figures and the resulting impact on everyday park-goers. It’s no secret that special accommodations are made for celebrities and public figures, but does this special treatment come at the expense of regular visitors’ experiences?

This incident with JD Vance raises questions about whether it’s fair for the park to shut down rides, temporarily at least, for the convenience of VIPs.

In the wake of Vance’s visit, there was a noticeable public reaction. Protesters gathered outside Disneyland, expressing their displeasure with the ride shutdowns and, more broadly, the security measures put in place to accommodate Vance’s family.

Inside the park, some guests even voiced their frustrations, calling out the Vice President as he passed by, with many voicing support for immigrant rights and criticizing the policies of the administration.

On top of the park's physical disruptions, Vance’s visit also sparked political controversy.

California Governor Gavin Newsom publicly remarked that Vance, while enjoying Disneyland with his family, was out of touch with the struggles faced by the families his policies were affecting. Newsom’s comments criticized the Vice President for taking a trip to Disneyland at a time when many families were being torn apart by the administration’s actions.

Despite the protests and the political controversy, Vance remained unfazed. Throughout his podcast interview, he maintained that he and his family had a wonderful time at Disneyland, even acknowledging the inconvenience to other guests. He appeared to find humor in the situation, emphasizing that the experience was a memorable one for his family, even if it meant longer lines for others.

So, what do you think? Should Disneyland continue to offer special accommodations to VIPs like JD Vance, or do these visits negatively impact the overall guest experience? How should Disney balance the needs of high-profile visitors with the expectations of regular guests? We’d love to hear your thoughts, so join the conversation in the comments below!
