Jim Carrey’s Grinch Comeback Sparks Debate Over Hilarious Disney Reference

Universal’s Islands of Adventure is bringing back the chaotic Christmas cheer of Jim Carrey’s The Grinch, and honestly, we’re here for it.

This isn’t just any Grinch—it’s the Grinch: full prosthetics, pitch-perfect quips, and a disdain for humanity that feels, well, festive. And where better for him to wreak havoc than a candy store? Honk Honkers, transformed into Mount Crumpit, is the Grinch’s new playground, and visitors are loving it—or surviving it.

Take Scottish TikToker Kirsty Clyne, for example. Armed with a Grinch sweater and matching Crocs (commitment!), she stepped into Honk Honkers only to be met with a barrage of Grinch-y shade. “This sweater looks nothing like me,” he sniffs in the clip, before noticing himself on her Crocs. “I’m so useless, she steps on me all day,” he laments. That’s self-deprecating humor at its finest, folks.

Then comes the accent debacle. Upon learning Kirsty’s Scottish, the Grinch attempts an accent that sounds more like Shrek after a couple of eggnogs. “Disney’s going to sue me,” he jokes, before rolling his R’s like he’d just won the Highland Games. TikTok loves it—or hates it. One follower describes the accent as “p***,” while another declares it “Michael Myers or Jim Carrey himself!” Hot take, but we respect it.

Grinchmas at Universal isn’t just about the roasts, though. Seuss Landing is decked out in all things Whoville, complete with The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular. It’s all happening now through December 31, so if you’re a fan of festive chaos (or just want to see if the Grinch attempts your accent), it’s worth the trip.

Meanwhile, The Grinch remains staple viewing for all families to enjoy (although the film is also packed with innuendos–something for the adult viewers, we suppose). But whether it’s the 2000 version starring Jim Carrey, or the recent 3D-animated adaptation with Benedict Cumberbatch, the green, mean, Christmas-loathing Dr. Seuss character is definitely worth inviting into your home at Christmas–just keep an eye on all the presents!

So, what’s your verdict? Iconic or too much? Either way, this Grinch is proving he’s still the king of Christmas chaos, one sarcastic quip at a time.
