On May 26, Hollywood was shocked to learn that beloved General Hospital star Johnny Wactor, who played Brando Corbin, had been shot and killed during an attempted robbery. He was just 37 years old. According to reports, Wactor was leaving his bartending job in Downtown Los Angeles when he was confronted by thieves trying to steal his car’s catalytic converter. Catalytic converter theft is on the rise and is becoming one of the most popular types of crime in Southern California.

According to Wactor’s mother, her son did not try to fight the robbers. However, they shot him anyway and then fled the area. Emergency services were called, but they were unable to save him, and Wactor died in his coworker’s arms.
It has been just over two months since Mr. Wactor was shot and killed, and sadly, the police still have not apprehended the suspects. They have continued their investigation, but are now asking the public for help.

Shortly after her son’s death, Wactor’s mother, Scarlett Wactor, shared a message with ABC, talking about how incredible her son was.
“There are not enough words to tell what a beautiful soul he was. He was a kind, loving son and brother. He lived life to the fullest. He set goals and went after them. There is a very large hole in our hearts and lives.”
And, according to multiple reports, Wactor was shot while he was trying to protect his coworker. Anita Joy said that she was walking with Mr. Wactor when they confronted the thieves, thinking that maybe his car was being towed. When they realized what was happening, Wactor stood in front of Joy to block her from danger.
