He might only be livin’ on a prayer, but for one woman, iconic rocker Jon Bon Jovi was the answer to her prayers.

On the evening of Tuesday, September 10, Jon Bon Jovi and his team were in Nashville, Tennessee. They were on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, shooting a music video, when a distressing situation unfolded right before their eyes. An emotionally distraught woman climbed over the bridge, prepared to end her life by jumping off the bridge and into the Cumberland River.

A woman in Bon Jovi’s crew immediately but cautiously approached the woman, talking to her about what was going on. Then, the rock icon is seen approaching the woman as well. Together, Mr. Bongiovi and the woman in his crew work to get the woman to change her mind and realize that she is meant to be here.

Thankfully, they were successful. They helped the woman back over the ledge, and Bon Jovi is later seen giving her a much-needed embrace. The entire incident was caught on a security camera.

Jon Bon Jovi helped talk a distraught woman off the ledge of a Nashville bridge, police said. The incident occurred Tuesday night as the rock and roll legend was filming a music video at the time, with the bridge open to the public.

Police confirmed to ABC News that the woman was taken to a mental health facility where she will receive help after the incident. They also thanked Mr. Bongiovi for jumping in and helping save an innocent life.

“It takes all of us to help keep each other safe,” Nashville Police Chief John Drake said in a statement.

Always Helping Those in Need

While helping save a woman in distress isn’t something that happens every day, the New Jersey-born singer is well-known for his generous heart and various philanthropic endeavors.

In 2006, he founded the Jon Bon Jovi Foundation, a charity dedicated to helping families break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. Then, in 2011, he opened JBJ Soul Kitchen in Red Bank, New Jersey.

JBJ Soul Kitchen is not your typical restaurant, it is a place where people pay what they can afford for their meal. And they don’t even have to whip out their wallet, as the restaurant allows patrons to volunteer instead.
