Jurassic World 4 (2025), the seventh film in the Jurassic franchise and one of three upcoming Jurassic sequels, is officially in production, with filming currently taking place in Thailand. While little is known about the project, its extensive cast has been confirmed.
The film will be led by Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) star Scarlett Johansson, joined by Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (Dead Boy Detectives), Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs Lopez), and Mahershala Ali (Leave the World Behind).

While no actors from the previous films are returning, Jurassic World 4 does reunite past creatives: Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) screenwriter David Koepp, Jurassic World trilogy producers Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, and executive producer Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two films in the series.
Per Variety, the film will be “a completely fresh take launching a new Jurassic era, following three adults and three teens getting stuck on the island,” but that’s all we know about the plot. Despite rumors of “human-dino hybrids,” the overall premise is unknown.
In a recent interview, Scarlett Johansson simply described the script by David Koepp as “incredible.” Cast members have remained equally silent on character details.
Either way, it sounds like Jurassic World 4 will effectively “reboot” the franchise.
As for characters of the prehistoric variety, however, we finally have some solid news, as one of the film’s dinosaur species has been confirmed in a new behind-the-scenes set video: the herbivorous hadrosaur, Parasaurolophus, which has appeared in every Jurassic movie so far.
The video was shared via the YouTube movie news channel Evolution Square:

Per the video, it’s worth noting that the Parasaurolophus is a “maquette” and not an animatronic, meaning it’s a static model. While this dinosaur leaves us none the wiser as to the plot of Jurassic World 4, or even when it takes place on the Jurassic timeline, it’s still exciting to finally get some confirmation about what dinosaurs we can expect to see.
As for other dinosaurs, your guess is as good as ours, but we think we can safely assume that there will be plenty of carnivorous dinosaurs in the film. Good luck, Scarlett!
Scarlett Johansson, best known for the MCU but having also starred in other actioners like The Island (2005) and Ghost in the Shell (2017), will lead the “new Jurassic era.” It’s also worth pointing out she’s had experience dealing with zoo animals in 2011’s We Bought a Zoo (except those ones didn’t escape and eat people).
Jurassic World 4 will be released in theaters on July 2, 2025. The film is being directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla 2014, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Creator).
There’s also a video game sequel titled “Jurassic Park: Survival” (TBA) in development, as well as a third “Jurassic World Evolution” entry.
