Another Jurassic World film is on the horizon. A new report from entertainment insider Jeff Sneider (via SFF Gazette.com) reveals that Universal Pictures is moving forward with a follow-up to Jurassic World Rebirth, this year’s box office juggernaut that earned $868.6 million worldwide, despite receiving mixed to negative reviews from audiences and critics.
The studio is reportedly in early talks with director Gareth Edwards to return, alongside key cast members Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali. The trio’s characters — Zora Bennett, Henry Loomis, and Duncan Kincaid — are expected to continue their story in what could mark the start of a brand-new Jurassic World chapter.

Universal’s prehistoric empire has never stayed dormant for long. From Steven Spielberg’s 1993 original through to Jurassic World Dominion (2022), the series has continually evolved — both in tone and in ambition. Rebirth was marketed as a standalone film — at least by members of its cast and crew — and ushered in a new Jurassic era, but its financial performance makes it hard for the studio to resist extending its life cycle.
What’s uncertain is how Rebirth’s world fits into the wider mythology. The film took major creative swings — from winged dinosaurs to genetically enhanced species — and broke ties with earlier continuity. Whether the next entry doubles down on that direction or pulls the series back toward its roots — which would almost certainly appease those who were left deflated by the latest film's terrible storytelling decisions — remains to be seen.

Outside theaters, Universal’s strategy for Jurassic remains aggressive. Chaos Theory continues to expand the lore on Netflix with Season 4 arriving later this month, while the upcoming survival-horror “Jurassic Park: Survival” promises a return to Isla Nublar in video game form. The message is clear: the Jurassic name still draws a crowd, and the next film will keep the franchise roaring for years to come.
Jurassic World Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Mahershala Ali (The Green Book), Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (Dead Boy Detectives), Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs Lopez), Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF), and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).
