A Hazardous Design?

The slippery floors of Galaxy’s Edge appear to be unique to the themed area. Speculation among parkgoers suggests that the flooring material, designed for realism for the land, is often a leading potential fault.

The guest noted that they were not moving quickly, only walking at a regular pace when the incidents occurred. “Another lady slipped and fell at the exact same time as my girlfriend,” they wrote, adding that others in the area were also commenting on how slippery and potentially dangerous the flooring was. The full report reads:

“PSA: Galaxy’s Edge is Extremely Slippery
Discussion
Just a PSA to anyone going to the parks during the colder season. This morning my girlfriend slipped not once but TWICE in galaxy’s edge. We weren’t even moving quickly — just walking at a regular pace around the park. The first fall was minor but the second was pretty bad. Another lady slipped and fell at the exact same time as my girlfriend, and all around everyone was complaining about how slippery and dangerous the floors are.

Why is this area like this? None of the other attractions in the park are this slippery. I can’t help but imagine what would have happened if someone older like my grandmother had slipped and fallen instead of my girlfriend. Seems like a very bad accident waiting to happen.”

Safety First

While Disneyland has not yet addressed these specific complaints, the park is known for its commitment to guest safety. Disney frequently updates and maintains its attractions and themed areas to ensure they meet rigorous safety standards.

In the meantime, guests are advised to exercise caution while navigating Galaxy’s Edge, particularly during colder or wetter days when surfaces may be more prone to becoming slippery. Parkgoers are also encouraged to report safety hazards to Cast Members, who can help escalate concerns to Disney’s maintenance teams. As Disneyland continues to enchant visitors with its immersive storytelling and intricate design, feedback from guests remains crucial in helping the resort provide a magical—and safe—experience for all.
