‘I’d Actually Have a Migraine’: Lisa Kudrow Discusses Disneyland Trips

The actress that most people know from the popular TV show Friends has a surprising history with Disney, both in her career and her childhood, and she recently spoke to the official Disney Fan Club D23 on the D23 podcast about her love for Disneyland!

When asked about her “favorite Disney memory”, the Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion actress instantly said that her favorite Disney memory was “going to Disneyland. My God!” she added for emphasis. Since the actress grew up in southern California, Disneyland Resort was not as far a destination for her and her family. However, the Friends actress and her family did find Disneyland to be a little too stimulating!

“My parents didn’t love going [to Disneyland] because it’s too much tumult and excitement,” Lisa Kudrow said on the podcast, “and I have to say [that] when I would go, it was all so exciting, I’d actually have a migraine that night as a kid! Because it was too thrilling!”

Apparently, even though Lisa loved going to Disneyland Resort and Disney Parks as a child, it was too much of a good thing for her. Over time, Lisa has learned her limits for a Disneyland trip.

“Now I know I can go for three hours and I’m okay,” she revealed. “Because it’s so fun. I loved it more than anything, so, like, a birthday present for me was my parents taking me to Disneyland”. And she still says that a Disneyland birthday is “the best birthday ever”!

Lisa Kudrow’s parents would add to the Disney magic on the Friends actress’s birthday, too. “My mom said ‘they’re doing [the fireworks] for you because it’s your birthday’,” Lisa remembers.

Lisa Kudrow is best known for her role as the ditzy friend Phoebe Buffay on the iconic series Friends, which aired on NBC between 1994 and 2004 (her co-stars included Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc). However, Lisa has also done some Disney voiceover work!

Lisa Kudrow voiced Aphrodite in four episodes of Hercules: the Animated Series (a Disney show that lasted from 1998 to 1999). Now, she’s starring alongside Rueby Wood in the new Disney original film Better Nate Than Ever, which is inspired by the book of the same name written by Tim Federle.

The movie, which will come to Disney+ on April 1, follows thirteen-year-old middle school student Nate Foster as he runs away to New York to become a Broadway star. Lisa Kudrow is playing Nate’s aunt, Aunt Heidi, a Broadway musical performer who meets Nate Foster as he tries to achieve his dreams on Broadway.

“This is, for Disney, their first lead character who is a thirteen-year-old boy who’s gay,” Lisa said on the D23 podcast. “That’s a big step. That’s a big deal.”

Did you know that Lisa Kudrow was such a big fan of Disneyland, and that she has voiced an animated Disney character? Have you ever gotten a headache from visiting Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort?
