According to a post on X, formerly Twitter, by DVC Shop, Disney World will close the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade, located in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, to make room for a new members-only space.

Reportedly, the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade will soon close to make room for a new Disney Vacation Club space. The new location will serve as the latest Disney Vacation Club member lounge.

In January 2024, Disney World confirmed plans that include a new private lounge to be constructed. At that time, the exact location of the new lounge was not disclosed, but Disney did confirm that construction would begin sometime this year.

The new DVC lounge would be the fourth private DVC Members Only lounge to be constructed. The other lounges include one at EPCOT, which opened to members in 2016, Star Wars Station, which is located in Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, and the Top of the World Lounge: A Villain’s Lair, located above Bay Lake Tower at the Walt Disney World Resort.

According to the post, the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade at Magic Kingdom is expected to close forever this summer, though Disney has not confirmed a date for the closure as of the publication of this post. In Disney’s announcement from January 2024, the theme park resort only said that the new lounge “will be a great place for [DVC] members to relax and recharge during their day of fun.”

At this time, there’s been no public announcement from Disney about the closure of the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade, and Disney has so far been mum about details of the possible replacement for the guest-favorite attraction.

It does seem, though, that plans are set for the final shootout at the arcade, pending an updated announcement from Disney Parks.

Frontierland is on the brink of a whole new upgrade, beginning with the new Country Bears Musical Jamboree, which will debut this summer.

There has also been talk of a retheming of Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and Cafe into a Princess and the Frog theme to match the soon-to-open Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction, which will replace the now-defunct fan-favorite Splash Mountain attraction.

Splash Mountain closed for good in January 2023, setting into motion the wild online sale of various mementos from the attraction, including water from Splash Mountain that was bottled and listed on online marketplaces for thousands of dollars each.

In a recent post, Disney Parks Blog wrote:

Hold your horses; we’re not done yet. We have a lot of growth and investment planned for our theme parks in the coming years and look forward to sharing more announcements about Frontierland. So y’all come back now, ya hear?

In usual Disney Parks fashion, few details have been given so far about the possible demise of the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade, so fans will have to wait with possibly bated breath to see what will eventually come down the pike for the guest-favorite land at Magic Kingdom.
