If you’re a Disney enthusiast, you’ll be shocked to see the history that Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World Resort is currently making.

There is no Disney park in the world more popular than the iconic Magic Kingdom. With its iconic Cinderella Castle standing tall at the heart of the Disney World park, Magic Kingdom gives guests an opportunity to immerse themselves in a world where fairy tales come to life. From thrilling rides like Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean to beloved attractions like “it’s a small world” and Peter Pan’s Flight, the park offers a myriad of experiences for people of all ages.

However, if you’re in Walt Disney World Resort this week, you might think Magic Kingdom is more like a zoo than a magical getaway.

The reality of Walt Disney World is that there are always going to be crowds. Magic Kingdom is typically always going to be the busiest park in terms of crowds, but that doesn’t mean that EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom can’t get busy either. These crowd levels are only amplified during certain times of the year, including the Christmas season, special events, and of course, President’s Day.

This past week, Magic Kingdom made eye-popping history when one guest shared the wait time for the Swiss Family Treehouse. Yes, you read that correctly: There was a wait for the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, a 20-minute standby line, to be exact.

“Well that’s a new one,” they said.

Numerous times over this weekend through this week, multiple popular attractions have risen to wait times well in the three-digits. This is, honestly, to be expected during a busy week. However, this is the first time in quite a few years that the Swiss Family Treehouse had a standby wait.

“We’ve been here the last 5 days,” one guest shared. “Honestly it’s the busiest we’ve seen it in a very long time (we are aps and come a few times a year). It was busier than December/Christmas in my opinion. We barely got anything done this trip and it was rough. Thankful we come often; otherwise, it would’ve been incredibly disappointing.”

Another Disney World guest shared the feeling that “something needs to change,” and made the suggestion that Disney expand Magic Kingdom to deal with the crowding issues the theme park seems to suffer.

“Something needs to change,” they shared. “I get they’ve already gone up on their prices, and they’ve made changes, but to see Swiss Family Robinson at that wait time, we definitely need a new land or something.”

Disney has teased expanding Magic Kingdom Park with a new land, but it’s unclear if this would help with crowding as it would likely attract even more visitors to the Disney World theme park. Disney’s tease– titled “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain– has mentioned multiple ideas for a land expansion, including Encanto, Coco, and Disney Villains.

While fans are looking forward to a massive expansion at Disney World, the next major attraction to open will be Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is replacing Splash Mountain in Frontierland.

The Swiss Family Treehouse attraction, inspired by the classic film Swiss Family Robinson (1960), invites visitors to embark on a journey of adventure and discovery. As guests ascend into the towering treehouse, they are transported into the rugged yet idyllic world of the Robinson family. Amidst the lush foliage and intricate craftsmanship of the treehouse, visitors can imagine themselves as part of the Robinson’s tale of survival and ingenuity.

It’s worth noting that the original film has garnered a warning from Disney for containing elements that some viewers might find insensitive by today’s standards. The warning reads as follows:

“This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together.

Disney is committed to creating stories with inspirational and aspirational themes that reflect the rich diversity of the human experience around the globe.”

At this time, Disney has not expressed any plans to change the classic Adventureland attraction.

  1. Disney keeps building more DVC rooms at resorts, but no new park. It will be crowded all the time. They need another park not just expansion of Maguc Kingdom.
