Magic Kingdom Attractions Close, Update Given

Magic Kingdom is facing widespread disruption today as multiple attractions go offline across Disney World's flagship park.

Like any major theme park, Walt Disney World regularly experiences operational issues. Attractions can temporarily close due to technical faults, weather conditions, routine safety checks, or ride evacuations, with most outages typically resolved within a matter of hours.

Today, guests visiting Magic Kingdom have experienced extensive closures, with attractions such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Haunted Mansion, “it's a small world,” The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train all off limits.

It's unclear what caused the mass closures, although some guests have theorized that it's due to power outages.

Regardless, guests are unimpressed by the lack of availability in Magic Kingdom today.

“Disney, whatever is going on these last few years with multiple rides down needs to be fixed,” said one X user. “We pay too much money to come to your parks for everything not to be working properly.”

Another wrote, “Been to Epic Universe twice and it usually has less downtime than an average day at a WDW park.”

A Pattern of Mass Closures at Magic Kingdom

This is far from the first time this has happened at Magic Kingdom this year.

Back in May, Haunted Mansion was unavailable for roughly the first five hours of the park's operating day. That same day, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad experienced issues – something it encountered on multiple occasions in the weeks following its reopening after a lengthy refurbishment.

In April, a power outage also forced the evacuation of Monorail Teal. Guests aboard the free Disney World transportation service were forced to use emergency release tools to rip out the train's windows for more air.

Fortunately, most of today's impacted rides have now reopened, with the exception of “it's a small world.” The classic boat ride remains closed to guests as of 8.15 p.m. EST.
